my system totally crashed. I only have command prompt (SSH). Nvidia driver still not seen by ubuntu. ferike@ferike-linux:~$ uname -a Linux ferike-linux 5.0.0-36-generic #39~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 12 11:09:50 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ferike@ferike-linux:~$ nvidia-smi NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running. ferike@ferike-linux:~$ clinfo Number of platforms 0 Although if I issue sudo apt purge *nvidia* then it seems it would remove the following packages: The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: dkms libatomic1:i386 libbsd0:i386 libdrm-amdgpu1:i386 libdrm-intel1:i386 libdrm-nouveau2:i386 libdrm-radeon1:i386 libdrm2:i386 libedit2:i386 libelf1:i386 libexpat1:i386 libffi6:i386 libgl1:i386 libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libglapi-mesa:i386 libglvnd0:i386 libglx-mesa0:i386 libglx0:i386 libllvm8:i386 libnvidia-compute-430:i386 libnvidia-decode-430:i386 libnvidia-encode-430:i386 libnvidia-fbc1-430:i386 libpciaccess0:i386 libsensors4:i386 libstdc++6:i386 libwayland-client0:i386 libwayland-server0:i386 libx11-6:i386 libx11-xcb1:i386 libxau6:i386 libxcb-dri2-0:i386 libxcb-dri3-0:i386 libxcb-glx0:i386 libxcb-present0:i386 libxcb-sync1:i386 libxcb1:i386 libxdamage1:i386 libxdmcp6:i386 libxext6:i386 libxfixes3:i386 libxshmfence1:i386 libxxf86vm1:i386 pkg-config screen-resolution-extra xserver-xorg-core-hwe-18.04 Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them. After this operation, 395 MB disk space will be freed. so if i understand this correctly, the driver is installed. I used the ppa method to install nvidia driver. Tried 390, 410, 440. Nothing works. Did someone face similar issues? |

I don't know what you did there StFreddy as you had the Cuda driver loaded and all you had to do was to follow the instructions given to complete the OpenCL package for you. :-( Anyhow, I got 34 for the 23rd UTC. Cheers. |

I got 39 for the 23rd UTC. Just wish I could get out of the penalty box on my Win10 box. All I can get is CPU tasks. Ever since I failed a few GPU tasks due to a software problem it won't let me redeem myself. |

Nvidia driver still not seen by ubuntu. You lost the Nvidia driver in the kernel. Go ahead and purge the Nvidia drivers and revert to Nouveau and then reinstall the ppa and the latest driver. Make sure you see the 1660 get detected twice in the Event Log startup. You need to see it reported for CUDA followed by reporting for OpenCL. Only if you see the OpenCL line do you have the OpenCL drivers loaded to run AP tasks. If you still don't see the OpenCL line run the: sudo apt-get install ocl-icd-libopencl1 and reboot. Thanks. Will give it a shot ... though actually I tend to change those regularly anyway, come to think of it, as I use a venue change to help with getting APs when the splitters are running. |

I got 43 for the 25th UTC. [edit] I just had a thought Speedy and that's seeing as you run multiple projects I take it that you're running a very small cache so that your requests don't ask for much work and that maybe why you find it hard to get any AP's. Cheers. |
