First AMD Genoa motherboard and SP5 socket image with 12 DDR5 slots.
https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?attachments/lga6096-png.20966/
See the socket attachments of SP5 for the cooling solution has changed to 6 threaded posts instead of 4 threaded sockets of SP3.
Expected I guess to be able to pull the cpu evenly down to mate with LGA6096 pins.
Unfortunately,
An account upgrade is required to continue.
I don't have a Facebook, Google or Twitter account which appear to be required to view that image.
I can view the forums OK.

EDIT- Found the image at Tom's Hardware.
EDIT- Found the forum thread at STH, can see image, but can't click on it for full size.
EDIT- Interesting, the original post was made Dec 31 last year.

EDIT- i have to admit, i am really looking forward to Phoronix putting one of the top of the line Genoa CPUs through it's paces.

Looking forward to Dr. Lisa Su's keynote speech at Computex 2022 on May 23rd.

Expect to see the announcement of the new Zen 4 Raphael processors.

Board partners expected to announce the new platform a while later in the month.

AMD is very much in the news this week:

All-AMD LUMI Becomes Europe's Most Powerful Supercomputer
wrote:
EuroHPC 's Joint Undertaking recently deployed Europe's first pre-exascale supercomputer, LUMI, in Finland's city of Kajaani. The all-AMD build ranks as the 3rd fastest computer according to the Top500 rankings owing to its 550 Petaflops performance. It also claims the title of the world's third-greenest supercomputer, thanks to the impressive energy efficiency of the Epyc CPUs and CDNA-based MI250X GPUs...

... LUMI was engineered to derive 100 percent of its energy from renewable sources. It can be fed up to 200 MW of energy through hydropower, while the supercomputer's waste heat will be repurposed towards the Kajaani district...

... The underlying software is powered by AMD's ROCm software stack, which stands in contrast to NVIDIA's CUDA thanks to its open-source approach. It also features a translation mechanism that can adapt CUDA-based code to AMD's software stack with minimal software engineering efforts...

Openly and efficiently the way to go!

Happy fast crunchin'!!

Specs leak of 5.7GHz AMD Ryzen 7000 chips with double the L2 cache
The industry watchers at Wccftech claim to have obtained detailed specs for AMD's next-gen Zen 4 desktop CPUs, codenamed Raphael. If true, they offer some interesting insights into where AMD is going with its silicon designs.

It appears AMD is focusing more on IPC and clock gains in this generation and isn't as interested in competing with Intel on core count.

Here's a breakdown of the SKUs per the leak:

* Ryzen 9 7950X: 16 core / 32 threads, with base clock of 4.5GHz, a boost clock of 5.7GHz, a TDP of 170W, and 64MB of L3 / 16MB of L2 cache.

* Ryzen 9 7900X: 12 core / 24 threads, with a base clock of 4.7GHz, a boost clock of 5.6GHz, a TDP of 170W, and 64MB of L3 / 12MB of L2 cache.

* Ryzen 7 7700X: 8 core / 16 threads, with a base of clock of 4.5GHz, a boost clock of 5.4GHz, a TDP of 105W, and 32MB of L3 / 8MB of L2 cache.

* Ryzen 5 7600X: 6 core / 12 threads, with a base clock of 4.7GHz, a boost clock of 5.4GHz, a TDP of 105W, and 32MB of L3 / 6MB of L2 cache.

sounds promising in terms of raw performance.

just have your lube ready for DDR5 prices. everyone should consider entire platform cost since you can't drop these chips into an existing system.

Actually if you stick to the base DDR5 spec of 4800-CL40, the modules are not that much more expensive than DDR4.

It's when you push for the higher speeds and lower latencies do the modules go stratospheric in cost.

Just watched the AMD AM5 product release and am very pleasantly surprised at the MSRP pricing of the stack.

Can't complain about the Ryzen 9 7950X retail MSRP pricing of $699.

That is $100 less than the launch price of the Ryzen 9 5950X. Cheaper and better performance all in one generational uplift.

Assume the aggressive pricing of Alder Lake by Intel had something to do with the pricing. Gotta love manufacturer competition for benefiting the consumer.

Phoronix posted their in-depth benchmarks of the new Ryzen 9 7950X and 7900X cpus on embargo lift today.

https://www.phoronix.com/review/amd-ryzen-7900x-7950x-linux

Great performance uplift over Zen3 and Intel AlderLake cpus. Wins 74% of over 300 benchmarks.

Fanastic AVX-512 results with no clock speed or power penalties over AVX2.

Another interesting article from Phoronix- Zen 4 is faster with Security mitigation enabled, and with them disabled.

!!!

That is rather 'unexpected'...

Surprising and surprisingly good... Any explanation as to how or why?

Speculation that the internal microcode in the Zen 4 die already has optimized pathways that take into account the security mitigations.

Or that the software developers have optimized their code pathways to choose the fastest route with the standard security mitigations in place.

Acer’s AMD-powered Swift Edge laptop is a gentle reminder of the Intel tax

Acer is releasing the Swift Edge in the US this Friday with a Ryzen 7 6800U, carrying eight cores, 4MB of L2 cache, 16MB of L3 cache, and a clock speed of 2.7 GHz that can boost to 4.7 GHz. Combined with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of PCIE 4.0 SSD storage...

Indeed so!

Even LTT agrees:

THIS is how AMD Wins.

Spectacular.

Just how many pins?

How many Watts??

How many times extra power over Intel per rack???

Quite a tsunami... Quite the game changer...
