Asus recalls 10,000 Z690 Hero motherboards because of a backward capacitor. Did you buy a flagship Asus motherboard for your 12th Gen Intel processor anytime before December 2021? You’d best check if it’s the ROG Maximus Z690 Hero and get it swapped out if so because it could potentially start a fire in your house.Cheers. |

9-25-2022 at 12:22 PM - PDT OK, I've been trying on and off MANY times during the day to Reload the Collatz' Project's Web Page - to NO avail. Firefox keeps telling me that there is a PR End of File Msg, and that the Certificate isn't right anymore. I keep checking "Is it down for everyone, or just me?" Site and it keeps telling me that Collatz is down for everyone. This has been going on, now, for a good couple of months.... Is Collatz down for good? Does anyone know? TL [EDIT:] Trying to get here... But every page of the Site gives the same error. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Collatz was taken down many months ago as the owner moved to a new house or something like that. this was posted on the collatz forum on June 6th: Finish Up Your Work Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours |

Collatz was taken down many months ago as the owner moved to a new house or something like that. 4:47 PM - PDT Thanks for that. At least, now I know. I knew it had been several months, I just lost track of time and didn't realize that they'd been down since June. I never saw the Home Page with this message, I'd spent my time in the Café. I'd been having these troubles for months, but didn't know why, AND didn't see any posts here, or elsewhere. So, again, thanks for the update. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Best place to check for project outages, awol project(s), etc is BOINC FORUMS/Message boards : Projects or BoincStats forums |

Asteroids@home seems to be out of its recent coma... but not yet fully awake. The project home page comes up and the server status page comes up with the correct date and time. But... scheduler_reply is all messed up. The last work units I had were July 2021. I'll monitor the project and see if Boinc will recover on its own; or do a project reset if the project status recovers to "normal" and I'm still not communicating with it. My feeling is there's no point in banging it with a "reset project" if it doesn't look ready. Maybe even limit scheduler requests to just occasional instead of the boinc managed retries. |

A liquid cooled rack In the rack were two identical servers running the same workload. One server was air cooled, the other connected to the racks water cooling system to cool it's CPUs. The difference in temperatures was 30°c Grant Darwin NT |

What's the best project to put a RTX 3080 to use on running Windows 11? |

What's the best project to put a RTX 3080 to use on running Windows 11? depends on your interests. Einstein Gamma Ray #1 will probably generate the most points as long as you have a recent driver (app v1.28). Einstein BRP7/MeerKAT also has a Windows CUDA application that will work on your 3080 Asteroids@home has a CUDA application that will work with it also there's a few number theory/math/prime projects too like PrimeGrid GPUGRID has apps that work with the 3080, but they really only have their python apps recently which need a lot of system resources (uses lots of system RAM and many CPU cores) Milkyway will work, but performance will not be very good on a 3080 since it's FP64 ability is really lacking and MW thrives on FP64. Thank you Ian and Steve for your feedback. Appreciate the heads up I was unaware Asteroids@home had restarted. Einstein appears to be struggling to give out tasks at the moment. Think I will help PrimeGrid for a wee while. Out of interest what run times do you get over at Asteroids? I am aware that you are not running Windows. Thanks again for your feedback |

Einstein is actually back to full production. my systems have been getting steady and consistent work for about a week now. the work shortage was only on FGRPB1G, but BRP7 has always had consistent work. and they are gearing up for another Gravitational Wave campaign soon, O3MDF. Asteroids tasks will probably run about 5mins per task on your 3080, they vary in runtime a bit. make sure you have the recent drivers installed, there've been some reports that the server doesnt send the tasks unless you have the new drivers. I saw a review for Ortho Weed AND GRASS Killer Ground Clear complaining that it killed their grass. Not only is it in the name, but it has a warning on the label, "WARNING: KILLS GRASS". |

You always see plenty of bad reviews about, but most of them are from people who don't have a bloody clue and refuse to read the instructions and specs. :-( |
