One of my tasks announces a CPU time of 1 second (in reality, it was more like over 6000s). Huh, what? It validated without problem so the result itself is fine, but I've never seen such a nonsensical computing time before. Gazing at the skies, hoping for contact... Unlikely, but it would be such a fantastic opportunity to learn. My alternative profile |

Greetings, I just discovered something on this PC. When I changed from dual booting on 1 SSD to dual on 2 SSDs and when I copied my BOINC directory back over SETI decided it was a new host and gave it a new ID number and all new WUs. The discovery I just made is that all the WUs I had before are still in the projects directory. What do I do? :\ Have a great day! :) Siran CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Greetings, Try to merge both hosts, almost sure this will not work but you loose nothing if you try. if not works you create a graveyard with a lot of ghosts on it, you have very little to do in this case. ![]() |

Would be interesting to see what happens if the Windows 7 image was changed to a Windows 10 image. Giggle at the Linux picture it looks like it's in second gear. From all accounts I would have thought it would have been in fifth gear. I am aware that project is not around for a lot longer, I wish the next was easier to use because I could have got more work done however I am happy with what I have contributed ![]() |

It might be a dual-range gearbox which means it is technically in 7th gear... Tom A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association). |

Think Mack B61 Quadruplex, when driving trucks required serious skill-changing gears required two hands. Wouldn't have been too bad on the open road, and level. But add some hills or around town driving and they'd have been an absolute bugger to drive. You'd be seriously knackered by the end of the day. ![]() Video of technique required And a very good article on it Then there are the transmissions -- yes, plural. The main and the auxiliary. Today, they are bundled together in the same box, roughly speaking, with the two gearshifts replaced by the shift lever and a hi-lo range selector, roughly equal to today's 9- or 10-speeds. The triplex and quadraplex transmissions (5x3 and 5x4) roughly parallel today's 13-and 18-speed gearboxes. Grant Darwin NT |

Thanks for the video. Imagine if you got a dollar for every time you shifted each lever ![]() |

Now that's brings back memories of 1970 learning to drive my old man's '67 C1800 Inter that had a 5sp box with a 3sp splitter behind it, the same technique was required except that the levers where on the correct side of the wheel. :-D Cheers. |

Greetings, Hi Juan, Yeah, I already did the merge when I found out. Did not help :( They will clear once they reach their deadlines won't they? Or will I end up painstakingly deleting each one? Ah, the good old days. I got lucky. 1) Only had to contend with 10 speed and Super 10. 2) Had AirConditioning. 3) Had Power Steering. 4) I ended up in a Volvo fairly early on. It had more springs (softer/smoother ride) and a self-correcting turn signal. 5) Eventually, it had built-in temperature on the outside air so I never did get hit with un-expected black ice conditions. 6) Had lots of interstates which made the going faster and easier. Greetings, What you could do is try the ghost recovering protocol and see if it recovers the missing one. Set the host to NNT crunch all of them, report and them detach the host. Ten come back to the right host and continue your normal crunching. If you do nothing the ghost will be sended to another host when they reach the death lines. At least this is how works now. But who knows how the servers will going to work after March 31? That is a mystery. ![]() |

Worked in a military vehicle storage depot, at the time we had a lot of old vehicles in short term storage, ie: de-batteried but on a 6 month exercise routine. Spent a lot of time driving around our exercise area in a variety of late 40's and 50's vehicles including such delights as the old Scammell 6x6 recovery, AEC Matador and a host of others. Have also done delivery work with the Thornycroft Antar 1B, that was a beast. I would like to see some of these new drivers try to handle some of these:-) Kevin ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Who thinks that more data will need to be added before the end of the month? We currently have 7527 channels to do. In the event that more tapes get added I wonder whether or not they will be allowed to process before project hibernation? I'm not sure about anyone else but I think it would be good to see us process the noisy tapes that were pulled because of people not been able to keep their cues full. I am aware that it will create bloat in the database but since it's getting shut down soon would that make a big difference? I guess it all comes down to what data they want. I wonder if there is any particular data they want processed before hibernation I may have said this before but I also wonder whether or not there will be a cleanup. Or whether the work will just get deleted all run in-house. I guess these questions will get answered on the or after the 31st of this month or in my case 1 April as I am in New Zealand. ![]() |

In the event that more tapes get added I wonder whether or not they will be allowed to process before project hibernation? I think they are going to keep the system running for resends and results after Mar 31. No promise of new data though. Hopefully they know what tapes need to get done for papers they want to write and get it on the splitter before Mar 31. I can imagine a tape here and there being loaded as it is discovered in the process of writing a paper that a bit of data is needed, but maybe that is wishful thinking on my part. I'll be hanging around for the stray resend as I try out other projects. I assume others will be too, as the announcement of the end hasn't sent many away yet. |
