Message 1964529 - Posted: 11 Nov 2018, 1:27:52 UTC - in response to Message 1964528.

I have 2 cpus in my system crunching seti WUs, why is my max 100 WUs?? shouldn't it be 100 per cpu?? shouldn't I get up to 200 WUs for the machine?
The limit is 100 CPU tasks per machine and 100 extra tasks for each GPU after that. ;-)

Cheers.

You are not picking up the gpu for BOINC. Post the first 30 lines of the Event Log after the first startup of BOINC. That will show whether BOINC is loading a driver for the gpu.

Would there be a problem with the GPU she is running?
It's a rather limited piece of kit.

2 CPU cores, 1 CPU is the answer in your case.

thanks for the quick answers. I block the gpu from crunching. It is old and slow and a mac, so I don't crunch with the gpu.

Even with 2 physical CPUs, you still only get 100 tasks.

Yep.
The 100 WUs per GPU was a bit of a mistake which they didn't fix fortunately. It would be nice if the same error could be propagated to the CPU restrictions, or given the number of high multicore count systems these days, move to a per core limit with a clock speed or a turnaround time multiplier with an inconclusive/error rate multiplier limiter.

Well, we've been down this road about a zillion times now, haven't we?

I'm so sorry I led the discussion in that direction.

Don't worry, it won't be the last time.
Enough work to get through the weekly outage is a fantasy of many. To be able to get through a 2 day (eg weekend) outage being the holy grail...

I was just pointing out the obvious.
All in the game of converting money into electricity and then into Seti work.
Wish at times I could get a better exchange rate though...............

New CPU cooler for extreme overclockers.

(It's been a long week, and i'm easily amused at the best of times).

I need 2 of these for my computer please!

Nah, that's not big enough, try one of these. Though it's been said that a Nuclear Power Plant powers My PC.

What the heck is it WITH Micro$oft anyway?!?!?!

I have done everything mentioned here and what I find on the Internet to STOP Micro$oft from changing my video driver and NOTHING WORKS!!!!!

I was looking into the tasks list in BOINC Manager and no GPU WUs were running and the status said something about missing video. Huh? What? Video is working. I see stuff on the monitor. Then I thought about not getting the GPU temp to display on the taskbar with the CPU temps using Real Temp. Something clicked. I went into Device Manager and lo and behold, my 1050Ti had the caution icon. Needless to say I WENT INTO A RAGE!!!!! This is beyond downright BS!

. . Welcome to the I hate M$ club. In my opinion Windows 10 is one of the best OS available, but M$ are things that would get me banned if I wrote them. They really know how to screw over their users. "What, you're running Windows 10, great we can screw with you ..."

O&O Shutup came out about the same time as Spybot Anti-Beacon. Where Anti-Beacon focus was more about shutting off the MS telemetry, Shutup was more of a complete control over what MS services are allowed to run or not. Does the telemetry shutoff but a whole lot more. I ran that one after discovering it and replaced Anti-Beacon with it. I was satisfied it did what it claimed to do.

. . Sold! That is the sort of thing I need to hear :)

And start analyzing the millions or even billions of tasks already crunched over the years.
Until that happens, and CreditNew is fixed, I will not crunch much on main.

Nitpicker died a painful death, and now it seems as if Nebula will go down the same path.
We may already have found ET, many years ago, but we will never know, until all the work already done is analyzed.

. . It's a shame that the Nebula function cannot be network distributed as the 1st stage of SETI is. I am sure hundreds and hundreds would turn over a PC or 3 for that cause.
