Will it ever get done? Probably not.
Which is not a reason to just chuck the whole system.

Speaking of chucking a system, hmmmmmm.......

Why Britons are sick of single-payer health care system

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/jan/15/why-britons-are-sick-of-single-payer-health-care/?fbclid=IwAR0Fhb-R4PhWgWbCC4bX3q_zp4rk4tYHrg0Y8gUYlj5ki3qwApfb6qUgVHA

The British National Health Service (NHS) is unraveling. This month, authorities said they’d consider relaxing official targets for waits in the country’s emergency rooms. At present, the system aims to see and admit, discharge or transfer 95 percent of patients within four hours.

The NHS hasn’t been able to hit that target in years. Naturally, the solution to this problem is not to improve patient care but to get rid of the target.

Don't fix the bridge, lower the river....
This is exactly what’s in store for Americans if progressive Democrats, led by the likes of Sen. Bernie Sanders and Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, get their way and foist Medicare for All upon the United States.

3% of medicare's overhead are operating costs, 15% in private insurance plans. I like the way medicare is working for me thru my HMO, Kaiser Permanente is working for me. It is far better than my employer supplied Blue Cross was.

It appears that Trump is willing to negotiate a much, much, much bigger deal to get his Wall.

I have seen similar tales, but the general consensus seems to be, that if he does, there is a big risk his base, which is heavily anti-immigrant, of any type, will rebel. And at the moment if the polls are telling the truth, Trump has to keep his core base solid or he cannot win in 2020.

The world knows beyond all reasonable doubt that Americans love not only guns but $ as well.
Here's an excellent idea to get your country running again.

Have your paper companies print (continuously of course} the Constitution of the United States on toilet rolls & export them.

Wonder how many users will "rush" to get the 1st & 2nd amendments & put them to good use?

When Yanks complain, the users can use the 5th. :-)

Regardless of labels, America is being crapped on from a great height.
The sad thing is that America is continuing to let it happen.

Just further confirmation that you are being crapped on from a great height. Rather than confirm or deny whether or not a news report is real or fake, you should be concentrating on getting the shutdown ended.

All that can be seen is asswipes arguing the toss while many innocents suffer!

I thought you were the spokesperson for the innocent?

Well, Trump ran on the idea he was beholding to no one or nothing where the security and well being of American Citizens are concerned. If he puts together a 'grand deal' on immigration and DACA, coupled with a secure border, he will live by his walk.

I think if the deal is 'you get this compromise, but can't win in 2020', he'll take it. After all, in that case he could go back to TV stardom, living at the Trump Towers and eating caviar mid-night snacks(non-Russian caviar of course).

The deal offered on DACA and TPS at the moment is a complete NOTHING. They are under protection of the courts.

So Trumps new offer is a not a 'great deal'.

I agree, but negotiations start with ridiculous positions being taken by each side then compromises are reached. The 'Great Deal' would be:

1 Overhaul of the immigration system and laws to streamline legal admission and path to citizenship.
2 DACA deferrment and path to citizenship.
3 Full review of and increased oversight of all ICE procedures and policies with regard to humanitarian treatment of apprehend illegals especially minors.

in return for

1 Adequately 'barriered', secured, and patrolled borders to include use of automated 'drone' systems where applicable and cost effective.
2 Funding to insure proper upkeep of current 'barriers'.

This would obviously enrage the flaming fringe feathers of both wings of the bird but possibly enough 'to the middle' legislators could agree to pass this.

The consolation and 'carrot' to the Dims is that Trump could not possibly be re-elected after agreeing to something so egregious to his fringe right supporters as (gasp!) amnesty.

Everyone's a winner, Trump gets to retire, the Dims get a shot at Pence in 2020, and some lesser agencies get their back pay and go back to work.

By the way, here's the lowdown on the B.S. score regarding effects of the shutdown as wailed by the Dims......

Eye, factcheck 83% of Secret Service on the job and that is good enough. Well how about 83% of a border wall? That's already built. :)

Hmmm, not a very long fact check is it?

Considering the numbers that Trump alone has clocked up it really is an extremely small pittance in comparison isn't it?

Compromise, this is not!
Trump created the DACCA issue, the temporary protected refugee issue and the government shut down. He offers to temporarily rescind to get what he wants. He is giving up nothing.
