Point of division. Unions WERE necessary to prevent exploitation of the workers at one time. The exploitation was a holdover of Feudalistic systems handed down from the Dark Ages.

There are now laws that prevent such pillage of the human resources by their employers which render most unions obsolete. In some cases the Unions actually interfere with fixing problems in the system(most notably in the Government employment sector). An inability to remove incompetent or undesirable employees due to Union interference costs millions of taxpayer dollars each year.

That coupled with the graft and organized crime ties to some Unions and the dues demanded for meager return make them a burden rather than a benefit to most workers.
