I was getting this last night before bed. I was down to 6 gpu tasks on the linux box. Lost task recovery mechanism wasn't working this time. I just set sched_ops and work_fetch_debug in the log and went to bed and hoped the system would recover by morning. It did. Something is wonky on the servers .. every time I go to my task page I see this message at the top: Notice: Undefined property: BoincWorkunit::$keywords in /disks/carolyn/b/home/boincadm/projects/sah/html/user/workunit.php on line 53 |

Somebody was playing with the code. That's a relief. I thought they'd changed, but wasn't sure. Nice to know I haven't (completely) lost what remains of my mind. Grant Darwin NT |

YUCK! Green buttons were here last night. What ever was causing the error message has now vanished or maybe ET removed its message from the workunit results table. |

Web site & forums barley working; missing more often than not. And when they are up, forum response is super slow- at best. Add to that Scheduler responses are getting more erratic. 22/08/2017 14:44:52 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server 22/08/2017 14:47:38 | SETI@home | Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable Grant Darwin NT |

Not seeing any problems on my end, but I am a lot closer to the server than you. I should have posted earlier. There are still random slowdowns with the forums, but the worst of them and the web site going MIA & the Scheduler errors appears to have settled down about 5 minutes after I posted. Just saw a fun task pass by. It ran till 0.02% and got stuck there. Did that for several minutes, more than the estimated 3m 12s. Estimate eventually said 135 days and several hours. Then it was finished. I now see that this result says I hit the jackpot at: Spike count: 6 Autocorr count: 4 Pulse count: 1 Triplet count: 1 Gaussian count: 0 I have a bridge for sale, anyone? Hardly ever used.... |

Well that was an unusually quick recovery this morning after the outrage. Cheers. |

Definitely shorter than the last few outages.....especially the last one! :D . . It was actually less than one hour shorter than last week, but it started on time (3 hours earlier). Stephen :) |

My mistake, I was thinking about the 'extended outage', two weeks ago. Doesn't time fly?! Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

My mistake, I was thinking about the 'extended outage', two weeks ago. Doesn't time fly?! . . Too quickly I fear. :) Yes the outage 2 weeks ago was damned awful, all rigs out of work on that one. Stephen . |

Anybody else get to see totality for the eclipse yesterday? I just got back from Cambridge Idaho where we had perfect skies for totality. My first total eclipse. I had seen previous partials and annular eclipses but no total until yesterday. Awesome, just awesome. I decided not to get technical and try imaging. I wanted to experience it in real time with my full attention. I'll do the imaging thing in 2035 in Texas. I just had my Coronado PST scope and my 80mm refractor with Baader Solar film for watching up until totality. Enjoyed giving views to the crowds of the sunspots with the white light scope and the solar flares and prominences with the solar scope. The corona at totality was just fabulous. Was able to see the moon's shadow overrun us at 900 mph from the west. Even got light/dark diffraction patterns on the ground just before totality. Had a wonderful low stress trip via RV with my brother and friends. Avoided all the gridlock from the north and south of people traveling to the totality band. I made friends with a gentleman with the full camera setup and only a scope owner for the last two weeks but he knew what he was doing. I'm looking forward to his corona images which he should have processed in a week or so. That will be icing on the cake with a permanent record of the corona I experienced. I don't think it absolutely necessary as the corona is burned into my memory. I'll post some pictures when I get them. Almost everyone was trying to take pictures with their phones with the eclipse glasses held in front of the phone lens. Some were a little successful but most weren't trying to hold things steady. My brother got a decent image of partial totality via eyepiece projection with his phone from my solar scope. Just thought I would share my experience and inquire what anyone else did for their eclipse. Comments? Thanks for the link Wiggo. Interesting to read about others experiences. I had a niece that didn't make it down to totality because she left too late out of Portland. Got grid-locked and just pulled over where they were stuck to observe the partial eclipse. We warned her it would be a zoo driving and arrive early. Carlos' images look pretty good. I'm looking forward to the sequential shots. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
