My problem machine is down in tasks again with "no work is available" messages again. Just set preferences to No, Yes, No and now am slowly getting 4 tasks at a time in download requests. Think all the similar reports in this thread indicate there is a real server configuration problem that needs to be addressed. As Bruce said, this is going to get old real fast if we have to constantly babysit machines.

First thing this morning and i'm checking my cache; running down again. Change it to Yes, Yes, Yes and cache fills up in one hit. And once again it starts receiving new work as it returns completed work on each request, not every 5-20 or so requests. And the amount of work received is the same as the number of WUs reported.
Whether or not you do AP work shouldn't affect your ability to get v8 work.
Whether or not you accept work for other applications shouldn't affect your ability to get v8 work.

The Haveland graphics have been fixed: https://setistats.haveland.com/

We are having a higher number of tasks out in the field, about 6 million instead of the normal 4.2 million. Also the results waiting to purge is almost 3 million when normal used to be about 2.2 million. So server has to work harder to keep up.

I remember someone mentioning a while back the number of their Pendings increasing. At the time mine were around their usual levels, but over the last couple of weeks they've grown a lot.
Usually they're double my in Progress numbers, now they're more than triple.
I was expecting with the return of Guppies the number would drop back down again. No sign of that happening.

Still no problems here with cache. Pendings are up a bit, but within usual levels.

Although I am sure he is aware of and working on the scheduler bug, I sent Eric another reminder message on it.
I suggested that it might help if he would change the checkbox for 'accept work from other applications' from a simple 'Yes' to 'Hell, Yes'.........................LOL.

Meow.

EDIT:
And Eric replied already.
He has not figured the problem out just yet, and hopes he can get back to working on it Thursday or so.

Since then we had the Windows ATI 8.23 & 8.24 episodes which created many Ghosts. They are Still around. Anyone running Stock Windows ATI/AMD GPUs were affected, plus their unfortunate Wingmates.
If you were assigned any ATI 8.23 or 8.24 tasks via a Wingperson, it's probably going to be a while on those tasks.

Grrrrrr!! Now my other Windows 7 machine is exhibiting the problem getting GPU work. My main driver is down to about 100 tasks now. Still getting no work when asked for or maybe 1 task every half hour or so. I set a bunch of Event Log options to see what BOINC thinks I should be getting for work scheduling. Obvious that the daily driver seems to be in constant 600 second backoff. I show lots of requested work and shortfall and not all that saturated. If I think I understand what the debug output should represent, I don't see a reason why I shouldn't be getting work. I'm going to set the account options back to yes, yes, yes. It's interesting that I have only seen this problem on my Windows 7 64 bit machines. My Windows 10 64 bit machine has been humming along with nary a hiccup in getting work. Always at maximum 300 task load. Why are only the Windows 7 machines having issues?

My pendings are about double what they normally are on the Windows 7 machines. Pendings on the Windows 10 machine are within normal values.

Anyone running the last general release 7.4.42 before the 7.6 series and NOT having issues. I'll backlevel if it will fix the problem. Down to about 50 GPU tasks on my daily driver. Still getting no work available messages.

Where does one scrounge up an old 6.10.58 BOINC installer for Windows 7 64 bit? The BOINC All Versions page Download page only has 7.6 series BOINC platforms for Windows 7 64 bit.

My 7.6.22 on Win8.1 has worked continuously through all of this. Also 7.6.33 on my XP box.

It was my Linux box with 7.2..42 that I started having problems with, but now it is fine. I even change my venue to 'work' that my Win8.1 uses and that didn't work.

Which made me think it was BOINC doing it and not the venue ... but then it started working 20 minutes after changing everything back to normal, which make me think it is not BOINC.

In other words ... I don't bloody have a clue.
