Message 1837596 - Posted: 23 Dec 2016, 22:22:50 UTC - in response to Message 1837590.

Argh!

Sometime around the 1st, I started to feel minor pain at the top of my right calf. (This replaced a pain in my hip and down my thigh.) For a while, it sometimes needed a minute to get used to holding me after I stood up and then it was fine with occasional Advil or Tylenol, less than maximum dosage. A week ago tonight, I walked around on it for 3.5 hours and it got a lot worse. At the end of that time, I could barely walk, but I could also barely bend it to get in my car, and working the pedals to drive was painful too. I thought maybe it was just because I didn't take any meds with me, but the next day it was still bad. I needed a cane to limp to the bathroom when I got up. When it was still like that Monday, I went to urgent care after work. They sent me for an ultrasound, which showed I did NOT have a blood clot or a Baker's cyst.

Also on Monday, and apparently unrelated, my left foot was swollen, such that putting my shoe on hurt. I thought maybe it was just from not wearing shoes over the weekend, but it's still swollen today.

Update: just now, my doctor's nurse called after reading the two emails I sent and said I should go back to urgent care to have the left foot checked. So I suppose I will. The good news of today is that the right calf is less bad. Motion is still limited, but I can get up and walk without the cane.

What have you been eating lately; and have you been taking in 64 Oz of water a day??? I ask, because, if you're taking in more proteins than usual, the foot could be gout. Drinking lots of water will help flush the system of irritating toxins that cause gout. If this does turn out to be gout, and as bad as your swollen foot sounds, they may put you on Colchicine and/or Indomethacin. The gout flareups I get, (genetically induced for me), happen at different times, after eating; or even not having eaten, but due to stress - again, genetic markers for me - I MUST take both medications. If I do not get both medications, the gout just stays put, or gets worse. I typically take one Colchicine at 0.6mg, and two Indomethacin at 75mg Each. Then, every three hours, (as needed), I take two more Indomethacin, until the gout is gone.

As to your leg; however, I have no clue. Wish I could be of more help there; but, I'm sure your doctor will find out and tell you what the situation is. OH, and if you're allergic to aspirin, they may state that you shouldn't take the Indomethacin; however, I've been taking it for years, (even before I was desensitized to aspirin), and NEVER had an issue. Due to desensitization a few years ago, I now take aspirin, (two 325mg enteric coated tablets), daily. For me, the aspirin helps prevent nasal polyps from forming, and as a side effect, helps thin my blood a little.

I find lately, that if and when I recline in the recliner(the good one on the right, the left one on the sofa is broken), two things happen, My mouth gets dry, and instead of breathing thru My nose, My breathing wants to go thru My mouth, I'm not stuffed up. This happens with or without a pillow.

At least I figured out why My back hurt, so I put My only pillow that is on the sofa behind My back, My back problem while sitting or while on My bed faded to a tolerable level. Though the bed is also too stiff, but then I have a stiff back, makes bending almost impossible to do.

It would appear I'm even more like Vic.

They x-rayed the foot and found no fractures, only osteoarthritis. On the other hand, the right leg tried to dump me on the floor for the first time all day while I was walking from the exam room to x-ray. I had carried a cane in with me, mainly for extra safety when I came out (rain was turning to snow and I was worried about ice in the parking lot), and the nurse got it from the exam room where I'd left it. The doctor gave me Voltaren for the pain, which I've never had before.

What have I been eating? Not excessive protein, too much bad carb.

Not winning.

One and a half hours into a power cut.

Apparently a main HT line is down. Seems my dad is considered a "high risk" as the electricity company have called to check he is OK and to tell us that it should be restored in about another hour and a half.

Typing this with my mobile phone tethered to my laptop.

Have just had a "hunt the torch" spree to find dad has half a dozen, all with dud batteries, luckily he had some spares.

It is dark here now, not quite the way I expected to be spending Christmas Eve!!

David, sorry to hear about your legs. I have diabetic neuropathy and have had to live with pain in the feet and legs for about 10 years now. It's never fun.

But winning in Santa Fe. Expecting a white christmas.

I was diagnosed as pre diabetic many years ago.
It's just that the A1C never got to the top of the chart where my doc decided to do anything about it/
My tales of forever being tired and low energy did nothing to hasten the diagnosis.
I am just on the freaking edge./

I am slowly dying, and it is only if an when I have an episode that precipitates in a hospitalization, shall this be remedied.

I get weird sensations in My feet, and in My hands, in My hand it's more from lack of blood flow, My feet, it's tingling, which comes and goes, almost feels like an itch, this can happen when or when I'm not wearing shoes, it's a most irritating feeling, when I get this in My feet, I just want to rub My feet on the carpet, that usually helps.

I haven't had a problem like I described in a few weeks.

I understand about the hands. I get a super heavy duty tingle in my right thumb, pointer and social finger. I don't get pins and needles. All I have to do is hold a ink pen, fork or spoon for maybe ten seconds and the tingle starts. I'm glad it goes away just as fast when I put down whatever I was holding at the moment.

Thank you for the kitty.
I can feel her paws on my face. So soft and warm.

Even with claws attached.

Like roses have thorns. Love has it's sticky side.
But no greater love has ever been shown that the one by a cat.
And only those who have experienced it shall know what I mean.

Kitty has claws, for to assure you that you cannot escape her love.

Kitty love is the best kinda love.
