At least one person was injured in a shooting at a shipyard at the US Navy base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The AP reports. The US military has been alerted to the scene, according to the news agency.
According to local media, several people have been shot, but the information has not yet been confirmed.
Roads to and from the fleet base have been blocked and people in the area are urged to seek protection.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — A shooter opened fire at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola Friday morning in an attack that left two people dead including the assailant. The gunfire prompted a massive law enforcement response to the base, which was locked down.

Area hospital representatives told The Associated Press that at least 11 people were hospitalized.

Five people were taken to Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, hospital spokeswoman Kathy Bowers said. Six more were expected at Ascension Sacred Heart, spokesman Mike Burke said. Neither spokesperson had information on their conditions that they could share with The Associated Press.

Pearl Harbor and Pensacola clearly show that our Navy needs more thoughts and prayers in order to ward off these senseless killings.

Yet more painful stupidity of having guns randomly 'to hand':

India woman shot for 'pausing dance' at wedding

An Indian dancer has been hospitalised after being shot in the face because she stopped performing at a wedding.

In a video of the incident, the woman is seen dancing on a stage. She pauses, a gunshot is heard, and the woman falls down while holding her face...

And there are multiple other gun tragedies:

... Other tragedies happen by accident.

In November 2016, a gun-toting self-proclaimed god-woman killed three people including the groom's aunt, after firing celebratory shots at a wedding in the northern state of Haryana.

In 2018, Punjab police arrested a man after he allegedly shot dead his neighbour by mistake during a pre-wedding party.

He had fired shots into the air to celebrate his daughter's upcoming wedding. But one of the bullets hit his female neighbour in the forehead, killing her instantly.

Are we yet not 'civilized' enough for a first small step to exterminate all guns?

And we're to trust that all guns can be removed from Society, when the security of the most powerful Navy on the planet can't prevent one being used in a mass shooting inside one of it's most secure facilities?
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/06/us/nas-pensacola-shooting.html#link-41477835
......Unauthorized weapons are not allowed on the base, Captain Kinsella said, adding, “You can’t bring a weapon on base unless you’re part of the security forces.”

No thank you, I'll take care of defending myself, on my terms, under my 2nd Amendment Rights.
Guns are a fact of modern life the same as electricity. You cannot remove them entirely and as long as one remains in the hands of someone with evil intent, it will be used to do harm.
You can't wish them away.
Accept the fact they exist and conduct your actions accordingly.

Seems to me that the most powerful Navy on the planet are protecting American national economical interest over seas but not American citizens safety at home.

Virginia Sheriff Vows to ‘Deputize Thousands’ to Defend Gun Rights
On December 4, 2019, Jenkins used a Facebook post to thank the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors for standing with the dozens of other counties that have declared their intention to defend the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins says he will “deputize thousands” to defend gun rights should incoming Democrats use their legislative positions to enact more gun control in Virginia. Jenkins made clear he is talking about doing nothing less than calling up the militia to defend God-given rights. He quoted Richard Henry Lee from 1788, saying, “A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.”

.....so much for that argument you can't own a gun if you're not in a Militia........

Lets add another billion guns and go for more death and destruction!
https://komonews.com/news/local/accidental-shootings-by-police-expose-training-shortfalls-12-09-2019
Accidental shootings by law enforcement have happened in recent years at agencies small and large and at all levels — city, county, state and federal — across the U.S., an Associated Press investigation found. They've caused hundreds of injuries to officers, suspects and bystanders, and sometimes they've caused deaths.

No one tracks these shootings nationwide, so the AP collected media reports and surveyed agencies across the country through public records requests. The review was not comprehensive, due to the sheer number of U.S. law enforcement agencies and a lack of reporting requirements for such shootings. But it provides a snapshot of the problem, documenting 1,422 unintentional discharges since 2012 at 258 agencies, and uncovering detailed reports on 426.

The tally includes any incident in which a gun went off and the officer did not intend it to, whether they were cleaning or unloading a weapon or surging with adrenaline while responding to a call. Some shootings occurred because of involuntary muscle reflexes, experts said, or because the officer simply tripped.

While countless law enforcement officers safely perform their duties every day, some experts say even a small number of accidental shootings is unacceptable because they are preventable.

Guns, guns, more guns, it is the answer
JERSEY CITY, New Jersey -- One police officer was killed and three others were wounded, and there are five people dead inside a grocery store following a wild shootout and standoff in Jersey City Tuesday afternoon.

The Mayor has the right idea, it is a very effective strategy!
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Jersey City Police Department, especially with the officers shot during this standoff, and with the residents and schoolchildren currently under lockdown," New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said

Simple:

Require gun-free zones, especially so for all large venues.

Once that is accepted, extend 'gun-free' to more areas until the American Wonky-Wild-West finally catches up to a new gun-free culture.

Otherwise, anything less is continued Mad Max madness!

And for those claiming "Can't be done"... Note that we've had greater cultural shifts here in the UK with such as the introduction of driving tests and driving licenses, no drink-driving, and no smoking in venues or in the workplace or in public places. Our world is much better for that.

Meanwhile in America?...

When is the U.S. going to wake up?
When so Americans in the US learn that guns are lethal weapons that only appointed and trusted people are allowed to use them perhaps?

That's a problem too. In the US law enforcement they expect or anticipate that everyone has a lethal gun. You don't see those interactions in Europe like police officers stopping a car for some reason whatever and having a nervous police aiming a gun at you.
