Message 1753059 - Posted: 2 Jan 2016, 3:38:59 UTC

Happy New Year! A time for renewal, thus FreeKibble V.

A little history.......

In March 2012, Mark Sattler, SETIzen, cat lover extraordinaire, and supporter of local animal shelters and rescue groups, opened the thread Free Kibble.... for cats and dogs, sharing links to a pet food company's website where visitors could donate food to animal shelters by playing an animal-related Trivia game. In June of that year, to keep the thread near the top of the list, several of us started posting the Topics of the daily Trivia Questions.

Somehow along the way, I became the primary poster and maintainer of the thread. So these threads are now under my sponsorship, with thanks to Mark and all the others who have contributed, either by posting or just playing the games.

Since Mark can't post here right now, I thought I would let you know that he posted at Boinc that Tigger seems to be ill. She has massively swollen lymph nodes and the numerous expensive tests done by the vet are not able to determine whether it's a fungal infection or cancer or something else. He is having meds shipped to him, which are neither approved nor disapproved by the vet. Tigger is 14 years old, but he seems to think she still has plenty of life left in her.

I've had both dogs and cats live to be 17 or 18 years old, and they were backyard (outside) pets. Indoor pets such as Mark's should be able to live even longer. Praying the meds work, and Tigger recovers.

My sympathy and best wishes for Tigger. The only cat I ever really knew in my adulthood was inherited at my late partners passing. She was 21 when I had to have her released from 'this mortal coil' due to her failing health with no hope of recovery. I have not been emotionally able to let another one adopt me since that day.

I sincerely hope Tigger gets well Mark, people who don't know cats can't fathom the depth of the relationship.

And welcome back.
