I was wondering why I was suddenly picking up APs, lol...

They will have to wait.

What a jump in AP received, you can certainly see there are a lot of hungry computers just waiting for work.

Is something unusual going on with AP production\distribution. We are in the middle of a lot of production for AP's. In the past when I leave my machines set for AP only the cache slowly fills. This morning I find 2 of my 3 AP only crunches totally out of work.

Is there an unusual demand for AP? Any ideas what is happening?

the vast majority of people ran out of v7 mb gpu work but v8 mb gpu is not ready yet so the only way their gpus can get any work at all is via ap

so yes i would say that there is an abnormally high demand for ap right now

Quite likely, people are making up for the Multibeam transition by collecting more AP than usual, especially for GPUs.

I am still confused. Should I be receiving APs for V8. I am receiving CPU tasks without a problem. Am I missing something or is it just not my turn? Just curious....

Setiathome is at v8, with Setiathome v7 still available, just, Astropulse is at v7, and staying at v7.

So, should I have inserted the V8 app_info into my (previously) existing app_info, or should I have replaced it completely, as I did?

First, there is no such thing as AP v8, only MB v8.

There may(I think I heard rumors) be a MB app for ATI, but don't quote me on that. I use NVIDIA and there is no MB v8 app for that yet.

Do you still have your original app_anfo ??

What I did, was add to it:

This will retain your current apps, and just add MB v8 for CPU.

Currently I am running v8 MB on CPU, v7 AP and v7 resends on GPU.
It worked for me.

that is a very germane question. I inserted the S@H v8 ap supplied by Richard at the beginning of my lunatics ap.info.xml on one rig as a trial and have received only S@H v8 work since. No AP WUs of any gender(cpu, nvidia gpu, or intel gpu) which I previously received and processed with no problem.

My other three rigs are getting AP work steadily if not in great quantity which leads me to assume I did something wrong. I'm not switching anything else until the complete lunitics installer with gpu comes out. I'm just enough of a programmer to get myself into VERY serious trouble.

Still happily Boincing away.... ":D)

[edit] After reading Brent's post I edited the xml file to remove the extra "app info" and "/app info", and moved the inserted v8 portion from the beginning to the end of the lunatics build. I'll see if that helps.

Taka a look at your app_info file.

There should be only ONE

<app_info> at the top of the file

and ONE </app_info> at the bottom of the file.

I don't wish to reinstall BOINC if it isn't necessary to retrieve my previous V7 app_info...

My app_info will NOT be compatible with yours. I run NVIVEA you have ATI.

I would suggest, set cache at 0.01 days and let it run down (at least a bit).

Reinstall Lunatics to get your app_info back for your ATI cards. And restart BOINC.

Then insert the v8 MB code in. And restart BOINC.

That should get you going in this time of change.

Thanks Brent for the post. The rearrangement of the v8 app and the removal of the duplicated <app_info> and </app_info> seems to have done the trick. I'm now getting both MB v8 and AP tasks (just intel gpu so far but that's a start). I may edit one other rig the same way as a test.

I added v8 app info to my v7 app info this morning and immediately picked up two APs. However, BOINC says there is a syntax error on my app info. The following is what I inserted up to the v7 point. Does anything jump out at you? I haven't received anymore APs today, all else seems to be running fine though. Any help is appreciated.
