Winning on a cool breezy Saturday morning. On this day in 1944, my father was working at the Norgren(sp?) plant in Milwaukee, making torpedo tubes for destroyers and PT boats. He was medically disqualified from enlisting, due to a skin condition. That issue cleared itself later in 1944, and he was allowed to enlist in January 1945, serving as a Machinist's Mate on the fleet oiler USS Aucilla (AO-56) in the Pacific. Thanks for the picture, Vic. :-) Yer welcome Lynn. That was for My Brothers wedding, Grandma wasn't there, She and Granddad didn't get along, She slept in the Master bedroom, He slept in a Shed, at least until Dad moved out, then He got the bedroom over the Garage, which was/is a seperate building from the house. My 3 cousins weren't there either and I now know why, Mom would have divorced Dad in a heartbeat had She known what My cousins knew, and then been timid on child support, as She later was. The fissures were there... Oh and Pat was 5'11" tall, Dad and Granddad were 6'1" tall. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

American Pharoah, ridden by Victor Espinoza, has won the Triple Crown by winning the Belmont Stakes. It's the first time a horse has won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes since 1978. Win. |
