I going to eventually upgrade to an MSI GTX1060 Gaming X card and a Red NZXT G10 Kraken(for the 1060), I have an NZXT X31 cpu cooler that needs a 1060 video card. $275.36 for 3GB ram, $387.13 for 6GB ram, both from Amazon. But that'll have to wait until sometime in the future, maybe 2019, maybe.

Here's why the G10 and this 1060 might be an ideal pair, take fans, heatsink, and the led cover off, and you have a heatsink for the power circuitry and for the ram, the G10 can or should cool all of this, gpu too.

Of course I have 3 Koolance 590 cards to unload with water blocks, 2 590's need cleaning out, 1 of those 2 needs some heatsinks from the dead 590 I bought for the ram on the back of the card, plus an EVGA 570 video card needs to be restored to air. But then I don't have enough a/c to keep all this cool.

Good to see an update with a new design. Rather an impressive production to zoom along.

Hope you're enjoying fun energy with people and places also!?

Happy fast fun crunchin'!

The MSI 1060 Gaming X I think is only 290 $ on NewEgg. If they're out of stock, the alternate sellers usually charge a lot more, 300+ $. There's a 10$ rebate for it now, too.

I really want to upgrade since there's so much improvement over my 650Ti. But I am cheap and pinch every penny so I will probably wait a couple years as well. However, it always feels like I'm playing catch-up on PC specs since I'm always buying a couple generations behind whenever I make a new build, in order to save money, and since I don't stream or use ultra settings when gaming.

Also, on NewEgg it looks like PNY is now selling a 6GB 1060 that has 256-bit RAM instead of the 192-bit. I don't know if that makes a big difference. Anyone know? The card's size seems much smaller than MSI, so maybe the heatsink and fans are smaller. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133638

I think that 256bit might be a typo on Neweggs part, since Nvidia designed the 1060 gpus to be 192bit only, only the 1070 series and 1080 series are 256bit, and I can't find any mention of this card on PNY, yet, just on newegg and ncix, and barely on ncix too. Anandtech.com says the 1080 and 1070 are 256bit, and the 1060 is 192bit. All three 10x0 gpus are mentioned here along with a 960 for comparison. There was speculation before the 1060 was released, that the 1060 would have a 256bit interface, but sadly that was not to be, even arstechnica says 192bit.

Me I was thinking about getting the 3GB version, which costs $224.99 on Amazon.com, before any sales tax is added, this card has Free shipping, for Me this card would be $242.99 total, this amount on amazon is subject to change, since sellers come and go.

You are right about it being a typo, I think. I found an official brochure for this model and it says 192-bit.

Some of the 1060's 6gb on Newegg seem to be about 250$. The MSI ones seem to be priced higher, not sure if the brands have major differences.

Well you at least found the brochure, that's better than I did.

I like the MSI card cause of that plate that cools and is in contact with the ram and the mosfets(or whatever they're called), that plate is a large flat heatsink, the gpu though needs a larger heatsink to stay cool, so it seems like the ideal candidate to experiment on to Me.

It's My bedtime, so good night JakeTheDog.

I think I know why I'm not doing much here(and why no real energy too), at least beyond paying down My credit cards, I've found out thru a visit to the local ER that I'm having Kidney problems, they found 2 solid masses in My kidneys(1 each), the left is smaller than the right, before I got to the ER I had to pull over on the fwy, get out, and bend over in pain and I felt a bit nauseous, when that passed I continued on, I was in so much pain that I was yelling a bit(I don't like yelling, I did apologize), they gave Me something for the pain(related or similar to Tylenol, the drug starts w/a T, directly into the blood stream w/a saline drip IV), took some blood and urine samples(blood was found in My urine, not a lot, but it was there), sent Me off for a CT scan, I also found out I have two hernia's, one may be My left front ribs that never healed right, the other is that My stomach protrudes above My diaphragm(I was told in writing to take tums if needed, I do, I also take 2-4 650mg tylenol caplets a day for the kidney and other such bodily pains like OA). As to the masses, I was told they could be benign, tumors, or renal cancer(worrisome goes with cancer, according to the ER), so now My Doctor is trying to find an MRI to get a better look and arrange for a Biopsy, so for the moment I wait.

I hope all goes well. I know sometimes the waiting can be the worst. Good luck and do let us know how things progress.

I've got to say that I'd enjoyed this build thread too - best of luck with the tests.

Victor Valley Imaging just called, they asked Me My height and weight, when I told them My weight, they said their CT scanner went up to 360, not 435, so they are going to call My Doctor and see if they can redirect to the BCH CT scanner, which can take My size and weight, though only barely.

I've taken My pills for the morning, including 2 extended release caplets. More waiting.

My Doctors Office just called, the cat scan is on Jan 17th in Corona CA. I have to be there at 12 Noon, the scan is at 1pm, no eating or drinking after 9am...

It'll take maybe 2 hours to get there from here, ugh, I have got to leave at 10am.
