With fear of being -1´ed, this is my proposal.
In good christian spirit, let us tell mister Word Weaver he can stay, in full accept ?
Condition.. Religion stays in the religious thread, and everyone is alloved a seperate oppinion.
Second WW is asked to engage in some kind of SETI related diskussion as well..

Let´s all be friends...

I hate seing the forum going to hell, and all this hatred, flaming and bashing, it´s taking us no where.

Just my two cents worth, please don´t pick on me for doing so, just want to get going again.

As much as I hate to say it, but I have to agree. Should WW fail to abide by this offer then it provides us with further, and perhaps more importantly stronger evidence with which to present the folks at Berkeley to do something about this person.

Well guys, i might not be the great writer on these pages, but i read alot :-)
I have a great respect for NEOAMSTERDAM, TIMMY, DOG BYTES, MISFIT and a lot of You guys !!!
But i hate to see this going in the direction, of us being the same as WW ?

All I know is that the more evidence we present to Berkeley the better.
I used to be in the evidence collection business and know how it may seem
like a lot to us but to those that actually have the final say it may
still not be enough.

With regard to evidence collection how are we going to do it? Do we save his
posts to our own HDDs? But then how do we prove that it can from him in the
first place. Just a thought.

i'm just hoping for a little peace in the new year...this saga that has been playing out the past few weeks is getting very old and tired...maybe we can help find ET by participating in SAH...but are we ready to meet ET?

we all have many thoughts to share about a great many things...and this could be a great place to do that...a little live and let live would go along way.

religion is a very hot topic wherever you go...and anyone who claims they have an exclusive on the truth is going to drive away more than they gather in...the truth is colored by the eyes who see it...and one mans truth can be another mans blasphemy...if we fail to respect the feelings and beliefs of others we only help perpetuate the pointless bloody wars that have plagued our world for too long...peace can begin in our little corner of the internet...if we just let it be.

Friends, the practice of "shunning" was very effective on the Classic Seti Social Board a while back in silencing another incorrigable pain in the fundament. While this person did not assail us with his superstiious religious nonsense, he still made the forum a very unpleasant place to be. After much exhortation simply to ignore him, never to respond to his posts he got the idea. Should the fool in question return to plague us, I urge everyone to shun him.

Now as an oldie to the internet but a newbie here I'm not suprised to see the odd spat (problem) or two on any board. Most boards are populated with people who have something to say... sadly there are those who also take the liberty to do this from the relative anonimity of their PC keyboard.

I haven't read much of WW's forum posts but I have read some of his articles and thoughts on life "out there"... Suffice it to say that (from what I have read so far) WW has an opinion that 'aliens' (whatever they are) are either a construct of some earthly power OR are a construct of some spiritual evil force made to beguile us from WW's view of goodness.

I can't really argue against this stuff as I am not a great believer in 'aliens' but I do accept the possibility of life of some kind in the vastness of this universe.

The problem with offering the hand of friendship though is that WW's own admission of being an evangalist disallows him from behaiving in any other way.

WW's key frame of reference lays in the link between his vision of 'aliens' as an evil construct and his desire to evangalise his message... Basically WW can only see anyone involved in SETI as 'deluded' by either wicked powers on earth or evil spiritual powers..

Basically WW's mind is to save all SETI participant from both themselves and their lack of knowledge (as WW sees it) and from the what he believes to be a corrupting force.

For WW I suspect that the "end of days" begins with such explorations as those undertaken by everyone involved in SETI.

I suspect WW feels he is doing 'good' by us. In that respect WW can never stop being WW as his core and fundamental beliefs will not allow him too.... You or I might at a drastic moment jump into a burning house to save a child at risk to ourselves... WW may be trying to save us from burning hell as he sees it...

For some the universe is vast and wonderous for others it is small and full of fear and danger.

I can respect anyone who has a belief and is willing to live it. If this is WW's reality fine. I shall continue to believe in mine and just skip over the oddities of anothers.. Perhaps that is the best policy all round?

Just a view from these newbie eyes of mine but as with all things I still have lots to learn.

Jack, that would be a very good idea except for the fact that WW horns in on every topic and conversation. Your plan would be effective if everyone shunned him, but as you may have noticed, even if we stand back, someone jumps in to reply to him, and off he goes. It is almost impossible to get the message out to all participants, and to get everyone to comply with the plan. No matter what action we take as a group, this person is so determined in his quest for self determinate gratification that any genteal form of action will not necessarily have the same results as before. This guy is in a class of his own; more like a holyroller version of Charles Manson.

You haven't been around long enough, nor have you seen the havoc WW has created. What you have seen here is but a small sample, and a violent reaction of those who have been more exposed to this individual. Yours is a voice of reason. However, like taking some middle class person and throwing him into a maximum security prison, you'd quickly find out the same rules don't apply as they do in civilized society.
