Has anyone heard any word on what is causing these recurring upload server issues? It would be interesting to know if anyone is actively working to increase the stability of the systems versus just kicking them as required. I can't imagine anyone is too pleased at the amount of time they're having to spend just keeping the operation limping along... |

Has anyone heard any word on what is causing these recurring upload server issues? Only thing I've seen is Matt's post of Jan 7th: Meanwhile we had a few crashes recently. As we now have faster network inside the colocation facility and larger disk arrays, we are hitting some linux i/o limits causing CPUs to randomly lock up (requiring hard power cycles). Anybody have any tips on this front? I'm messing with /sys/block/device/queue/scheduler to see if that helps.Of course, he's only half time now due to funding shortfalls. Think Eric has also mentioned cpu lockups, but no cause. Bruno seems to be getting the most. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Oh, let's hope the APs go elsewhere. My download is maxed out as I'm downloading my ESO copy, all 45+ GBs of it. Just survived a hiccup in the download. So please Seti, send the APs elsewhere. :) I suddenly find myself with 48 APs (not sure if any of those are old ones still pending). I recently changed my prefs from "run MB, accept other apps" to "run AP, accept other apps." Simple way to give myself a slight boost in RAC, at least until/unless they fix the credit system. According to the graphs, Results received in the last hour remain fairly steady, Awaiting validation is fairly steady, yet in my account the Pending validation continues to climb, significantly. Grant Darwin NT |

It's probably a result of the wad of Astropulse work unit that were recently available. They take longer to run so fewer wingmen report quickly. My pending to valid ratio has risen as well. As long as AP units are only intermittently available this type of cycling behaviour will continue. What goes up must come down... Member of the 20 Year Club |

As long as AP units are only intermittently available this type of cycling behaviour will continue. Taking a quick look, ALL of Grant's pendings are v7s, nnd his wingmates are slower machines running stock or cuda apps with longer average processing times than Grant's Anonymous Platform apps. Just the luck of the draw, paired with slower crunchers. On one of my boxes, I have 3 (out of 4) pendings where the winger is a new-join who hasn't been back since day 2, so those will probably go to time-out and be reissued...... At least AP isn't so bad with a 25-day deadline, but MB and its 6-week deadline can make that a little more of an annoyance. yep, I know what you mean - I try to think of the pendings as future higher RAC, although I still have pendings from 2012... Member of the 20 Year Club |

Grant, with your latest upgrade it's only to be expected that your pendings will go up (take a look at the pendings of my 2 main rigs). ;-) Cheers. |

Validation pending (3478)... did i need to say anything else? Actually mine are down from what they usually are so I must be getting some faster wingmates for a change. Cheers. |

Yes but that is in the usual range <2x, mine is close to 3x the valid WU, sometime this roallercoaster must end. |

I was expecting it, I'm just surprised they've gone up even more. They used to be around 500 or so, then it settled down around 750, now it's up to 830. Grant Darwin NT |

there is massive activity on "bytes out" on the cricket graphs. I am fairly sure this actually measures traffic to the server but it's usually about 15 Mb/s, currently peaking >350 Mb/s. Last time it did that, there was a FDGB. Member of the 20 Year Club |
