We have a A&W here that serves a nice chilly cheese dog. They are awesome But I admit I do tend to end up wearing some chilli.

If you ever get to my neck of the woods there is a place called Dinosuar B-B-Q. They have a pulled pork sandwich and spicy baked beans that are marvelous.

We went the vegetarian route again tonight. I made quesadillas with onions and jalipeno peppers from our garden. I ate some cherry tomatoes, also from our garden, but Eric hates tomatoes so he had his fruit course in the form of wine.

I love tomatoes, used to grow beefsteaks in fact, their great for burgers, I've got the buns in the freezer, I just need some patties, lettuce(iceberg), cheese & pickles, then I'll have My own burgers, home made. I had bought ten smaller tomatoes recently, I've eaten 2, 1 of which in a day would have started to go bad, next time I need to buy them when it's cooler, hopefully the other 8 will be ok, as I'm eating 1 a day with Lite 1k dressing...

Recently I've been buying my burgers from the establishment
Aston Marina
Mince is produced from real meat off-cuts (or even that lump of rump sitting looking lonely), and if you want a burger and there are none on display they are pressed while you wait (or even minced and pressed...).

The butcher does a variety of "flavoured" burgers and sausages, but did have a bit of "disaster" with one batch of chilli burgers - he got his chillies mixed up and they were "just a little hotter than he wanted for general sale" - they were wonderfully hot, indeed so hot they cooked themselves :-)

Sounds like they could be in a class by themselves, 'Volcano Burgers'. ;)

I have a co-worker who would have loved those - she eats Habanero peppers like potato chips/crisps......

One of my FRA Shipmates makes his own sausage. Often at Branch picnics and cookouts, he brings his home-made sausage patties for burgers, or mixes spicy pork sausage with ground beef in his hamburger patties....

We didn't have their chilli burger, that was the only one that I could find online, We normally had their large cheese burger, but then My Brother wanted to spend time with Me, 5 years was not enough, but it will have to do.

No, in that situation, it's never enough time.

Only way I can eat a chili burger is open-face. Any other way and I'm wearing half of it..... (8{)

These come wrapped in grease paper, basically the customary way is you first lick the drippings, then unwrap as you work your way in. True connoisseur's
will then lick the remaining chili and nibble the stuck on cheese from the remaining wrapper.

of course plenty of napkins (traditional Tommy locations provide plenty of folded towel paper for a substitute) will be needed for your face and hands afterwards.

And the unique Tommy's Chili Aroma will linger for quite some time... it truly is a unique dining experience that should not be missed if one ventures to southern California (or Las Vegas, and I think one strangely placed location in.. Utah?!?)

This is My favorite cheeseburger, Carls Jr double bacon cheeseburger...

I haven't had one in years.

I haven't had a Carl's Jr's. burger in a LOOONG time either; however, what I like is that they flame broil, (like BK), and that they cook to order; so, the burger is fresh.

There's both a BK and a CJ within 5 min. of the house. There's an In-n-Out about 8 min from the house.

OK TimeLord04, was this intentional or just a super funny coincidence?

The real apreciation for a cheeseburger with a side order of chips comes when you're back from a 70 minute scuba dive in 12C cold water.
Has to be homemade of course. Chains, pah.

And organic minced meat just made the weekend shopping list.

Everyone with a proper weights and measures system uses Miles. This continental fad for Kilometers will never catch on, mark my words.

A noggin of your best Ale my good Tavern keeper if you please.

Same here I think, signs have been in miles for longer than I can remember, for a bit they even had distances in kilometers(klicks to some), but that faded as their not adding that to signs along the interstate highway out here anymore. The Fad was just that here...

Tuppence pieces..

In old money coins we had

Farthings
Halfpennies
Pennies
Threpencies
Sixpences
Shillings
Florins (2 shillings)
Half crowns (2s 6d}

240 pennies = £1

After decimalisation we have

1 pence
2 pence
5 pence
10 pence
20 pence
50 pence
£1
£2

100 pence = £1

Even before that we had the silver threepenny pieces that today we still traditionally put in the Christmas pudding.

1/2 crown is 2s 6d -- what's a d in this context?

Otherwise, that's pretty much the same thing we have, only we have 25c instead of 20 and no $2 coin.

Decimal makes a lot more sense, which we figured out right from the beginning. Thanks, Mr. Hamilton.

Sterling, pre-decimalisation, was usually abbreviated to lsd, it was not £sd, which is where most people get confused, even most of the older Brits that used it, who assumed it was pounds (£) shillings (s) and pence (d).

lsd is from the latin, "librae, solidi, denarii"

edit] It was done so that foriegners were confused and therefore could be ripped off, but then realised that, especially in the colonies where we used dollars, that the Americans would pay the full price in American dollars even though the price was in the local currency dollars. e.g. Hong Kong when used for R&R in the 60's.
