Message 1373506 - Posted: 30 May 2013, 14:37:34 UTC - in response to Message 1373424.

If everyone is failing to download, then there's a configuration problem and we'll have to wait for Eric.

If the problem only affects some people, then try to stop using any proxy you may have set up. If that fails, changing ISP would be a possible (but drastic) solution. Otherwise, we could try to set up a mirror download site, I suppose, if anyone has a host and can afford the bandwidth?

It would appear that some are having problems and others not.

Looks like we need an alternative route, then.

Usually, the apps Eric deploys here are identical to the most recent Beta apps - if my ISP lets me, I'll try to test out that theory. That gives one possible alternative source - if it checks out, I can post manual download links for people to try.

Final (I hope) displacement activity - unfortunately, the released apps are not identical to the Beta apps - that'll be the file-signing data, I expect. Although they'll work the same as the released files, they would be rejected as replacements for a stalled download because of the security checking that goes on.

If download problems persist, we'll have to find some other way round them - or did somebody mention an installer?

I cut 2 rigs over last night, and whilst I slept they eventually did get the app and related files downloaded.
Cut the other 7 over about an hour ago, and they are still struggling to get that info downloaded. Some comes through, and some fails immediately.
They'll get it sooner or later and commence with v7 crunching.

Before we switched to v7 we had a shorties storm, is that one still raging in v7?

Hadn't noticed anything before the outage.
Till i can get these executables to download no way of knowing myself- i doubt it as the splitters don't apear to be splitting much, and there's no ready-to-send buffer.

The Server Status Page section on Database/File Status does not yet reflect V7 task generation, only Enhanced V6, which are no longer being split. We saw the same thing when they rolled out Astropulse V6. Until almost all S@H V6 work is returned and validated, they will not change the display to reflect V7 production.

Is it possible to download the new optimized apps somewhere without the installer, i.e. just a zip file with all needed files inside, like it was possible before? Some of us don't need installers, that do more than it's actually needed...

Sure... but only for GPU apps. CUDA on Jason's site, OpenCL on Lunatics. All as separate packs.

AFAIK they dont contain V7 aistubs yet, no ?

you right. we need to change that.

Concerning the difficulty of downloading the new app files....
My download failures say 'cannot resolve host name'...
And it's NOT on my end.

Could this be a DNS server somewhere other than Seti that is coughing up a furball under the barrage of download attempts?

Just wondering out loud.

Maybe somebody familiar with pinging could check it out.

Just a reminder if you were running x41zc already and made changes to mbcuda.cfg e.g. to up priority, and if you went stock now, you need to edit the cfg files - they are supplied empty, there is a sample cfg you can copy/paste over.

With the hints given by William (thanks!!) Ive modified the app_info's and I'm running v7 on GPUs... TBH, for me it was easiest than going to stock and upgrading to BOINC 7 reverting all the customizations that I've already made for APs and for the "Abandoned tasks - Ongoing issue" on the 3 SETI hosts...

Now, I'm just waiting for the CPU apps (and the app_info hints)... Sadly, there is no APs available so some CPUs are taking a little nap... But as there is not so much WUs available and as long as the GPUs are working the CPUs can rest as much as they want... LOL

Cuda 4.2 (min driver 301.48)?

Under Vista/Win7/8 x64, 301.48 does not exist, at least that I've ever seen as a WHQL or a Beta, I'm using 301.24 and I have access to 301.42 WHQL, though I like 301.24 just a bit better Myself. It's too bad the cpu app wasn't there, if it is then I just don't know where it's stashed at.

I have 2 WUs that ended in a -9 result overflow, as other are nomal it may be a normal noisy WU or may be some setting that needs to be moded on my side...
So, my question is can someone give me a hint on the adress at which I should look to download the WU to preserve them for future testing when the devs are not under the making intallers rush?

Ok 301.24 says:
12 5/30/2013 10:02:24 AM CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 580 (driver version 301.24, CUDA version 4.20, compute capability 2.0, 1536MB, 1380MB available, 1581 GFLOPS peak)

I still wish I had the cpu app, since I'm half converted to v7 now that the gpu app info has been partly realigned to v7. I said I have 301.42, not that I am running 301.42, a simple misunderstanding.

Well first part of the operation went well and I got a pile of resent tasks (MB, destined for the GPUs on my dual GTX690 cruncher.
Running in absolutly stock mode just now, so only one task per GPU. I'll wait for a bit before I try to sort out app_info.xml

Then it decided to download "astropulse_6.04_windows__opencl_nvidia_100.exe" and that's stalled :-( I think I'll abandon downloading this app as I haven't got any APs to crunch just now....

Oh I knew already, I was just pointing out, Arkayn should update that page to reflect 301.24, just to be more complete. When Arkayn has the time that is.
