from Gary: You are aware that Gary is not a project scientist, administrator, or anything like that. He's just another user. You are also aware that just because you're doing other projects doesn't mean you have to stop doing Seti. If you are aware of those two things and still want to leave, then the only thing I (also just another user) have to say is, don't let the door hit you in the electronic a$$ on your way out. (And I say that only out of concern for the door.) David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

My Situation is the opposite. I can upload completed work, but i'm not getting any new work. however, I must admit that The Current Work that II have (In Progress and Witing) is not due 5th february, 2013 ... Could this have anything to do with not receiving New work; even though I have only 4 Tasks (including the 1 that is Running) ? GALAXY-VOYAGER |

If they run as poorly as Seti, when it is having one of its fits, that would be a toss up. Today, I have been crunching my backside off and I keep getting serious lags before it will take the work done. What are you brainiacs doing? Are there any Republicans from DC in the bunch. Might explain a few things. |

from Gary: What is a problem really? IMO, I had no problems at all with SETI either. True, there are occasional hick ups, but as I see it they are problems for SETI and the guys in charge there, not for me. When they take too long like the whole week down end last month / begin this month, other projects happily get some more work done, no big deal. Anyway, that´s how I see it. Coming back on the thread, thanks for the warnings. It´s nice to know up front that something will be happening. |

Might explain a few things. They are from California, land of Moonbeams. If you want a always up project join http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/ or http://orbit.psi.edu/oah/ Grab all the work units you can! Now if you want a different kind of project, one that has lots of server crashes try http://climateprediction.net/ or http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/. They will keep you in work. Now for a project you need to really babysit try http://lhcathome2.cern.ch/test4theory/ Real good science on that one, but it may not play well on windoze boxes. BTW, if you don't want sarcastic answers, don't ask sarcastic questions, especially ones that have been asked and answered a 1000 times before. |

Sigh.... The only problem I have with Seti is not getting enough Seti...LOL. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

I love the BOINC project SETI@home. My PC/s will calculate SETI@home tasks as long as SETI@home exists. 'The admins' don't have the equipment & 'manpower' to let run the project 365 days/year - so that no 'problem' occurs. 'The admins' do their best - and this is very appreciated. 'The admins' work at/for SETI@home in their free time. They don't get money for their time & work. SETI@home is a nonprofit educational and research organization that relies significantly on 'donations' to continue operations. They don't make tasks for to make us happy. They let run this project for the science, for to search extraterrestrial intelligence. If here or there are currently no SETI@home tasks available, you don't want that you PC idle, you could join also other 'BOINC projects' (a small selection) for times like these. Set SETI@home 100 % resource share in BOINC. The other projects 0 %. If no SETI@home tasks are in BOINC, BOINC ask at the other projects for tasks. SETI@home was the first BOINC project. Because of SETI@home the BOINC software exist. SETI@home have the most active members compared with the other BOINC projects. No wonder, why other projects should run so smoothly (allegedly). My experiences are different. O.K., Earth's population - please calm down, think now a 2nd time about .. What should think the extraterrestrial intelligence about us? ;-) By the way .. For the future - please no ranting in the 'News' or 'Technical News' subforum. For this we have the 'Number Crunching' or the 'Cafe'. ;-) Thanks for your time. * Best regards! :-) * Sutaru Tsureku, team seti.international founder. * Optimize your PC for higher RAC. * SETI@home needs your help. * |

You might want to check this discussion out next time there is an outage here and you are feeling lost because you can't find the post button. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=8105 Of course this is also on a computer at the SSL so it will be down during the Jan 4-6 power outage, but perhaps for less time than Seti is down. |

.....and here I thought Community Forums were for open discussion - not a place to complain about 'Free' services being offered. You must know that any message received was created hundreds, even thousands of years ago - so, what's the rush? By-the-by, it's not 'your' "BONC" (spelling - BOINC), rather, you are a Volunteer - please be grateful for the thousands of hours of work provided by others [they really are not out to get you]. Try saying thank-you for the efforts of others. Yes, you really should try saying "Thank You". ~Sailor -----in response to the following Post----- My BONC wont upload packages back to server? Is there any reason, or what? Stop uploading when we go to 2013. Let me know guys =) |

What about prior to that time frame. I am sitting with files that are done and no input of new work. My other pc is on the last 2 files and then no work. Whats up? Haven't had any new work since yesterday. |

Haven't had any new work since yesterday. See the menu item at the bottom of the page that says "HOME"? Click on it. Then click on the item under "ABOUT" that says "Server Status"... |
