As a Judge, I was the most junior member of the court, so mostly little things. The Commissioner job was the most fun. I was the second most senior there, so I hear some very significant cases. Sounds like My Grandpa, He was into quite a few things, Auto repair garage, Car Dealer owner, Culver City Police Chief, Culver City Councilman and Bicycle Shop owner, He later sold the shop to retire, it still exists in Palms CA, the building where the garage and the dealership was at are long gone a victim of Black Friday in 1929. He was even qualified to be a preacher, though He didn't do that. He is mentioned on an Official Culver City webpage to this day, not bad for someone who past away on 12/31/1969.
