Quick bump on this. I know we've talked about this off line, but its worth others knowing that "despite" the servers having been funded there are a few things left, and there are rumours that a new "shopping list" will be coming out soon, so if you haven't paid you debts on behalf of Mark's efforts the GPUUG will still process your money, and assign it appropriately. And as an adjunct, I've upped the anti on Mark - if he manages six months then its doubles from me. (And I'm not at liberty to say what the Kitties will do to him if he fails...) Glad to see you've lasted the first month, Mark. I'll be making my semi-annual donation to S&H later this week, and although I didn't make a public commitment when this started, I'll add some to the GPUUG pot, too. I smoked pipe and cigars for over 15 years in the Navy. Quit in June 1990, still get the urge when I'm around other pipe or cigar smokers. But my mother was on oxygen for 12 years due to COPD before the colon cancer took her, and I don't want to have to live like that.... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

Glad to see you've lasted the first month, Mark. Well, don't forget that any donations to the GPUUG's fund drives do go directly to Seti. The only difference is they are targeted directly at the project's own wish list for hardware. And in the past, many donors complained that they had little control over what their donations were used for. I think this is much of the reason for the GPUUG's success. If you fail, and they only a quarter of what they said then you should be very enthused to keep on going. Well done, and keep going, you'll have some very pleased kitties ;-) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Are there some posts missing here? I was looking for my post to find out how much I now owe, but can't find it. Looks like the replies only date back from January. [Edit] I found 'em. I owe £25. I shall get it paid at the weekend. Len I think I am. Therefore I am. I think. |

Are there some posts missing here? Yeah, I saw that after I'd given up looking for my first post. I can only claim to be in the middle of a Fibromyalgia flare up, so last night was either pain or prescription analgesics. I don't remember which, but either one accounts for my lack of concentration. Today is the same. Right now its the analgesics, so I can't work today, but at least I am feeling no pain. I should really take this machine apart and remove dust bunnies as the temps are running slightly high, meaning I have to leave the CPU on 'high performance' instead of 'max performance'. However the opiates leave me with CBA. (Thats 'Can't Be Arsed' for those who didn't know.) ;) Probably unwise to tinker with things that involve electrickery in my current condition anyway. Not being pickie, but when are we expecting an outbreak of new "shooting stars"? Or is it one of those things on the lab-tuit list, and with all the server and database work of late the supply of round-tuits is awaiting replenishment... Not being pickie, but when are we expecting an outbreak of new "shooting stars"? I think the supply of round-tuits is in negative number right now. |

Not being pickie, but when are we expecting an outbreak of new "shooting stars"? Just as I guessed. Ah well, it will arrive, when the lab's round-tuits draw is replenished, but not before. There are after all more important things than shooting stars, like servers that work, databases that aren't broken, and links to the internet that are fast and stable....
