Not only an idiot, but a dangerous idiot. However this comment made me giggle, This guy is two generations removed from celebrity and we are supposed to be interested in his troubles with the law?? Frankly, my dears, we don´t give a damn. |

The aviation authorities take a very dim view of folks pointing lasers at aircraft, and not without cause. Think of the potential casualties if even a light aircraft ploughed into a school because the pilot was distracted, or blinded, by some fool on the ground. It just doesn't bear thinking about. If his story is true, he is criminally idiotic. If not, it is just criminal. Not much of a defense. Janice |

Ahoy, shipmates! I have never seen anything like it, and the hint has left me completely baffled :). |

The object in the hand looks like an owl pellet. Owls eat their prey pretty much whole, but they cannot digest fur or bones. These are then regurgitated in the form of an owl pellet. You can pull apart an owl pellet and see what the owls have been eating. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

On first look I am inclined to agree with John McL. But, in the case of that picture the owl would need to be the size of a bald eagle. Normally owl pellets are about 25% the size of that (compared to the hand holding it) or less. Also, an owl pellet is far more compresses/dense than that shown in the picture. So, for a guess I am inclined to side with Chris ... a small animal nest ... something like a field mouse. Moving on, after looking at the hint/bird box. There are 2 reasons for bird boxes in the wild in the UK. First to encourage tits (blue tits, great tits, etc) to settle; the second to provide holes for small owls to nest ... like the little owl, the tawney owl or, holefully, the barn owl. I am now plumping for the picture as showing a little owl nest after the owl has raised chicks. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues ![]() ![]() |

Wow, I have no idea what that is, but owl pellet does sound logical. WHOOOO know? Maybe it was a really, really, really big owl! |

It landed on a speed bump while I was approaching in a car. He was almost tall enough to look me in the eye. They are indeed about the size of a Bald Eagle... He landed on the speed bump as two vehicles were approaching - one from each side. He looked at me, turned his head to look straight back at the other, and decided it was not such a great place to land and departed. The other driver and I stared at each in shock for a full minute afterwards. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

In all things woodland, you've just got to go with what the Boy Scout says!!! That sort of depends on the woods and the scout. Unfamiliar woods are likely to hold surprises for anyone. ![]() ![]() BOINC WIKI |

Have you ever seen a Great Horned Owl? Yes! And handled one, with the appropriate equipment. Although it was fully grown it was still a baby/inexperienced. My answer(s) was based on looking at Pasi country, Finland. I tried to equate that to the sort of wild birds we have in the UK, including the remoter Northern end of these islands. That is why I plumped for what I eventually went for. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues ![]() ![]() |

That almost looks like two stars, each being gobbled up by a separeate black hole. That is very interesting. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

It does not.... Might have to save it as a .jpg or something and post it to a server. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." ![]() |
