Now I am not a fan of Obama. I hope he gets voted out in 2012, if not impeached before then for his misdeeds in office. But his long form Birth Certificate has been released now and the silly Birthers can shut up. That said, I think it would be a wonderful good idea if we make it so that all candidates to all offices must prove they meet the eligibility requirements, before even filing for the primary.

The release of his long-form birth certificate was a tactical error. The loonies who claimed his Certificate of Live Birth (a short, but still official birth certificate) was the result of a massive conspiracy will have no problem extending that conspiracy to this release. After all, this is being done more than two years after the question arose, from a State (Hawai‘i) that was already claimed to be part of the conspiracy and on behalf of a sitting President who controls the CIA, FBI and all sorts of government "skunk works".

As for the "racists" you lump in with the "birthers", they have no need of a birth certificate controversy, and I would guess that most of those who don't believe the President's birth documents are not racists at all, just people opposed to his liberal ideas and who will grasp at straws to unseat him. But you are right, that in no time at all there will be another "angle" or maybe a whole new kooky claim against his legitimate election, you know, like the hanging chad controversy. Conspiracies and nut cases spring up like mushrooms.

I'd wager 50/50 that the folks that find his birth, religion, schooling, pedigree are using code words for black. This is a very old tactic. Going all the way back to poll taxes and english tests to see if the individual was "competent" to vote.

So: Certified "copy" of The "Original". Very interesting.

Don't know if The Hospital where I was born is still named The Same or even exists anymore, but I'm sure if The Name Changed, my "Original" Birth Certificate has not been "changed" to reflect it.

I have not really taken a stance with the birthers......
They do raise questions that frankly, I am surprised that Obama has chosen to ignore or not be fully transparent about until now.

I personally do not agree with any degree of secrecy surrounding the person elected to the highest post in the land.

Except maybe that endoscopy footage...LOL.

well here in lies the problem, Mark. What happens is they'll continue asking for things until it becomes a sideshow. Instead of worrying about the debt the president gets to try and find his elemetary school records that show he was the star of the 6th grade basketball team and loved to state facts. Do we really need people questioning everything and actually having the president being forced to reply to every nonsense demand from people who would never vote for him and regardless of his response will still find something not quite right about him or his pedigree.

I'll say it again. It's looking more and more racist all the time. They do it in the good ol' boy south all the time. I recall reading about a supreme court desicion on discrimination where the person discriminating has to actually say or do something that is obviously racist.

Racists learned that you can get around that law just by saying something like(for example) It's hot today. I bet you could go for some watermelon. Or what are you having for dinner, chicken or better yet as heard on the radio this morning, A radio commentator was complaining about him playing basketball.

Hmm those sound like innocent things to say but they can also be downright racist.
