Carlos!?

I have a feeling that we may need to trade you in for a newer model...

Not sure if these 'goodies' go with good tea and fine bone china (don't pre-judge me) but, chips and pretzels...?

Hey JC...if I ever win the lottery, I will personally buy you a permanent beer tap from your house to your local brewery. That way, when 20.000 setians decide to visit you, you will never tun dry. Which means it will always be beer o'clock at your joint! (and you will always remain hydrated!)

Is this a good thing?

Ahhh...VW Bobler, once again my ignorance shines through, what is a swamp cooler please?

And just ya don't hate those 40+ days with no wind, you can sit under a tree in the shade, and there is no escape. Get into the mulga/eucalypt scrub and the humidity is 90+ and cos there is no wind, the perspiration does not have the cooling effect that it should.

And if your didibopping for a week, carrying all your supplies, water runs out real quick while you are trying to maintain your hydration level. Not a nice scenario, been there a number of times. But hey, always made it out each time!!

A swamp cooler is otherwise known as an Evaporative cooler, the cooler has 3 or 4 pads(depends on the design really) soaked with water and a blower inside the cooler pulls air through the pads and into the house or other building to raise the humidity inside which should lower the temperature inside, Of course the air pulled in needs an open window or two where one wants the cool air to be. Also a swamp cooler is best used in dry or nearly dry climates, The tropics or being close to the coast isn't ideal, Oh and the water used shouldn't be salty.

Now that is what I call a proper buffet!!! KNowing your good taste, I assume automatically that there will be the chilled Chardonnay to accompany it?

No, no my friend - I believe that Champagne goes best with afternoon tea. And since Champagne would clash with Earl Grey, I suggest we all switch to Darjeeling!

And just for the record, my all time favorite pun is:

"Gee Darling, is that Darjeeling?", infused Earl Grey, teasingly.

Wish I had written that, but alas I did not. That quote was a contest winner more than 20 years ago in a local "bad writing" contest that is held here every year in the SF East Bay. The author escapes me, but the quote is indelibly written in my brain.

Winning after a day at the FRA Post.

We played host to a Motorcycle Poler Run, put on by the local Chapters of the Viet Nam Veterans Motorcycle Club and the American Legion Riders, to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.

About 200 riders participated, several thousand dollars was raised to help support combat-wounded veterans, and our bar did a pretty good business, too.

Win-Win-Win.
