What is the median age of Seti forum participants? I suppose there is no real way to know. As there is no real registration required. And that would be subject to honesty, at best. I only wonder because I post things that are from my younger days and get little response. I am 53yo now......will be 54 in less than a month. I suppose some on these boards think of me as a dinosaur or an ass, which I admit, I can be sometimes. But, I wonder how many youngsters am I talking to, and how many are of my own age? 38 Quite a lot of people posting seem to be around 60 (give or take a few years) and then some in their end 30ies. Not many below 35 and a few in between. Thanks Mark, I've been wondering about Seti demographics for quite a while :) Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |

I am 75 and have been called "nonnetto" (silly old man in Italian) by a fellow cruncher. But I am running 6 BOINC projects on a Linux box, plus Solaris Express as a guest OS via VirtualBox. Tullio |

You're as old as (the woman) you feel. (Before I'm accused of sexism, let me say that the gender in the preceding sentence is interchangeable.) That would make me five years younger than I am, which is 47 years. |

I quit counting at 21! Though I did have to admit to 22 once back in the 60s. (Found a state with a 22 year old drinking age!) Of course I quit counting 40 years ago. For those of us over 60, if you really want to feel old, stop and think that we were born in the first half of the last century! PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

...As there is no real registration required... But some of us mention the age in the profile (along with gender:-) I'm 55, but I think I've never really grown up. Hmmm.......It would seem that many in this quest are as old as I am. Or at least in a similar age, shall we say. This is enlightening. Maybe many of us in our 'wiser years' have come to question what and where we come from? Of course, some of us have been at this for many years. Born in 1957, the dawn of the space age. If 53 years is good enough for Sputnik, it's plenty good enough for me too. I do not fight fascists because I think I can win. I fight them because they are fascists. Chris Hedges A riot is the language of the unheard. -Martin Luther King, Jr. |
