Whoo! I have to function in the morning. Maybe I'll just pop a Benadryl instead.

Try melatonin instead. 5 or 6 mg, and you'll sleep like a baby. You can buy it OTC at the drug store.

But as an added hint. Don't imbibe too much of Scarecrows & Steve's remedy with it. You'll feel a bit haggard the next morning!

You can buy melatonin OTC? urks. And I thought it already bad that they put taurine into Red Bull...

Melatonin is a natural bodily ingredient. I've always felt it was a good alternative to sleeping pills. If I take Benadryl, I wake up the next day in a haze. I've not done much Red Bull though. I see that it's prohibited to prescription only in Germany. Shame though. I love my Melatonin. My doctor recommends it above any sleeping pills. Except for Trazodone, which is actually an early antidepressant. They've found though that it sucks as an antidepressant, but it makes a terrific sleeping pill.

Yes it sure works, and I'm sure you'll get it on prespriction in GErmany if you are sufficiently insomniac...

Then all it would need is wheels and a motor, so you could tool around the house, going where ever you wanted. :)

Heck, I don't mind turning to drink, and my office is much neater. It is possible that dribking can be used as a valid excuse for not doing what you really don't want to do, and is more valuable. If that doesn't work then I'll have to come up with another excuse to drink. At the moment though, I've stashed all my beer, and hidden any empties in preparation for my fathers visit. The things one does to impress ones father....:)

What makes my situation strange, is that my father worked his way up from paper boy to the executive vice president of a huge insurance company, and made millions. I worked my way up from a janitor to a software engineer over many years and jobs, and even though my work is technical and challenging, I don't make squat. My father does not let me forget that. I suppose that if that's the only problem I have, then I have it good. It does get a little frustrating from time to time.

Want your dad to cut his visit short Steve? Tell him you think he is right about you being an alcoholic and so you can't have him drinking in front of you. He's welcome but he has to leave his scotch elsewhere.

That would throw him into a rage and disapointment, and he owns the title to my house. For over 20 years, I just don't drink when I am anywhere near him. It makes things much easier, and he is convinced that any success I have had was because I stopped drinking years ago. What he doesn't know won't hurt me. :)
