One hit and those ships would be on the bottom or sinking fast, Actually one did sink with a loss of all hands in 15 minutes from two Torpedo hits, It was the Courageous, Sank by the U29. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Have your Dad send a separate one. Then there are two on file. One by the patient and another from a physician. That will force them to open a case file no matter how lazybutt they are. |

[rant]AAAHHHHHH how IT ignorant can the people be who are supposed to look after the group infrastructure? You tell them the machine a) has a custom software setup (to which no installation discs are available) to control the equipment it's hooked up to b) can not be backupped and therefore c) should under no circumstances go on the net (especially not for surfing on dubious sites). To minimize the problem you then make an intricate workaround to enable a program that wants administration rights to run under a normal user account and you remove all the internet icons etc. so people don't get tempted. AND WHAT DO THEY DO? they stuff a virus infected USB stick in to move their data, they infect the machine. they want to clean the machine they install 3 different malware detectors and a virus scanner (via the wireless and of course they leave the wireless running). and now the program doesn't want to save probably because the access rights are wrong. and how has to sort it out now?! Thank you very much, I wanted to use that equipment and not spend the next half day errorhunting [/rant] Thank you for your attention, you may now go back to winning. Or for that matter, I'd like to win, please? Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |

Oh Carola I feel your pain. Fought those battles for many years, running data logging and instrument controlling PCs and laptops, in a company with a standard clueless IT department. Every time I would get one IT manager trained to not touch my stuff, they would go and hire a new IT manager. Switching all my stuff to Unix helped for a while, until a new manager took that as a personal challenge. I remember one particular conversation: IT guy: I'm here to install Win95. Me: these boxes don't run Windows. IT guy pauses, looks confused and then says: but the old Windows is no good. You need Win95. Me: they don't have the old Windows. IT guy: but we bought licences for your stuff. Me: go away. |

:D Oh I remember that sysop story, of how you first make sure, that the printer that's not working is plugged in etc. before you go down to sort it out. and after half an hour you realize, that the printer was indeed plugged into the extension lead, but that had been disconnected :D Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |
