Happy hump day to you too, SV.

We have this thread to post in, us who were Rocky's friends, us who actually knew him. And thank God for that!

I am speechless, I can't even find words to describe my loathing.

Hi Fuzzy! Yes we do and I'm glad we're still around to post here.

I don't want people to get the wrong idea, everybody is welcome to post here as always. Even if they don't know anything about Rocky.

I know you already know that Fuzzy. I just don't want people thinking we have some exclusive thread just for us.

Hump day is almost over and my second favorite day of the work week is almost here (Thursday!). Friday being my favorite work day of course! :)

My daughter is living in Florida with her Mom now. She's about 20 minutes from Miami. It's breaking my heart... She's already home sick and is telling me she wants to come back but she doesn't want to hurt her Mom's feelings. I'm trying hard not to influence her decision as to where she wants to be. It absolutely has to be her choice. Probably the hardest thing she's ever had to do.. Poor kid, only fourteen and we're forcing her to make a decision like that...

My son is here permanently. He's the only thing keeping me alive at the moment, Figuratively speaking. I mean, I've lived for my kids for the last 16 years and that's all I know now. Everything has revolved around them... And my son is at the age (16) that he's always gone to his friends and or doing what teenagers do, that I'm left with way too much time alone to think about things and get depressed. But he's here even if he's not here much and that's keeping me going.

Often people don't read the initial post in a thread, especially when the thread gets too long, so I will just bump it.

Rocky was a friend of mine. And though we served on different coasts, we were both in the Navy at one time. Now many of you know, that while on shore duty, sailors would get toghther and form a coffee club, so that there would always be that life-blood available first thing in the morning. So, go ahead and post your messages and chit-chat here, like you were drinking coffee with your mates.

Posts must be 'kid friendly': they may not contain content that is obscene, hate-related, sexually explicit or suggestive.
No commercial advertisements.
No links to web sites involving sexual content, gambling, or intolerance of others.

Oh, and everyone is welcome here as long as they behave.

I came across this little gem somewhere else where I spend a lot of my time these days so I thought I'd share it with you here:

How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb?

Only 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"
Another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's
3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group
13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"
7 to blame the mods for letting the first light bulb burn out.
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 years from now and start it all over again.

Another three to explain how to use GPS to get the bulb and socket correctly aligned.

Dear SETI@home user:

We are conducting a survey of SETI@home users
in order better understand why people participate in volunteer computing
and contribute computer resources.
We would be extremely grateful if you could help us
by filling out a questionnaire.
If you are not interested, ignore the rest of this email.

The survey is at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/survey/
It should take no more than 10-15 minutes.
Your responses will be used for research purposes and to improve BOINC.
We will be happy to share our findings with you, and they will be made
available once we complete the data collection and analysis.

With many thanks -

Greetings everyone, nice to see the place again, little dirty, but nothing a good scrubbing can't fix. Give me an hour, and I'll have the place shiny like new!

I'd love to dance.

I want a collar. With diamonds on it! Nothing less can do it.

You wouldn't settle for a Cubic Zirconium studded collar would you? I can't afford real diamonds on my budget. ;)
