Thats a brilliant idea, Andy. Then, we could all swap hints on keeping cat hair and fluff out of our PCs! lol Seriously though, I quite like the idea - but not until, at least, next month.

Maybe this is not clear per the past kitty auction that SETI.USA won....and maybe that is my fault for not stating it clearly enough.

This auction is for the crunching services of the kitties' farm for a period of one year to the highest bidding team. The bid is for a donation to the Seti Project, the kitties get no part of it. The bid can be a lump sum one time donation (preferred), or as was done by kevint on behalf of SETI.USA, a monthly installment over the one year period....but if the installments are not kept up, the deal is off.

So far the offers made are....

$400.00 from Pappa for team HT (if that was a real offer, kinda unclear).
$75.00 from Sciurus Vulgaris for Boinc Synergy.
$50.00 from Michael Roberts for Team Phoenix Rising.
$50.00 from Andy Worth for the as-yet-unfounded Team Kitty.
$00.00 from anybody at SETI.USA

Come on folks....you can do better than this!!
This is a chance to own a piece of Seti History....the #10 cruncher on the project in the world on YOUR team for a year. And all the proceeds go to Seti.

A caveat....my RAC is not guaranteed. I may have to shut down a cruncher or two this summer when the heat becomes too much to control. But I shall always give you the most the kitties can offer, and the auction is for a year, so even if I have to throttle back a bit this summer, I shall still be on your team next fall and winter when the temps allow full power operation of the farm.

I shall set an official closing date on this auction.
Come what may, I will join the team with the highest valid bid for a donation to Seti on 2/20/2010 at 5:00PM CST.

Any questions or clarification needed, post here or PM me.

So......round up your team kitties, collect your kibbles, and make a bid.
Go for it.
Meow meow meow.

What do you need you know, my friend?

$125.00 offer from Galadriel for team Doi s'un sfert...
Dunno what the translation of that is.

And I don't care whether the 'team' is one-man, two-man, or a thousand.

I a single user really wants to pony up the bucks, I shall join him (or her).

The silence here is deafening.........

No deep pockets around here, apparently.

Not to belittle those who have made the offers so far. I know what it's like to count the change when it hits the floor.

msattler,
I posted on my team's forum... no bidders yet. Guess times are still tight. I cannot outbid Galadriel @ $125. Perhaps you could auction in tiers.... one machine per year per $100? The rest savings on your power bill.

Side-note: My friend has a sick kitty too; I think it's a thyroid condition... hair falling out, constant pain, not eating. Sad to watch.

Well...the auction ends this coming Saturday afternoon, so you still have some time to rally the troops. No way to split computers between teams...

Sorry to hear about your friend's kitty......depending on it's condition, thyroid problems are usually treatable. My Squirrel kitty just got back from the vet an hour ago...waiting for test results tomorrow to see if her T4 levels have done down at all, she is still losing weight. May have to up her med dosage. Please get kitty to the vet to see if anything can be done for it.

And I am a serious lover of cats. That's priceless. I lost my cat, Scooter, after 21 years. You can see her here: http://darsys.com/shop1.html I'm still sad.

Bidding is ending tomorrow afternoon.
The kitties are packing up the kibble bowls for the big move.

I am aware that somebody has been sending malicious messages regarding my team affiliation.

Say it to my face and you will be dealt with appropriately. All I have to say on the matter.

May the best team win.

On behalf of The Knights Who Say Ni!, I hereby enter a bid of US $1826.25 (5 dollars a day for 365.25 days).

I'm not a member of any team, but Simon Zadra is a KWSN member and the Lunatics web site runs in their domain and is maintained by team members. I'm grateful.
