Hello. Nice appreciation for those who work long hours to provide WU's for you to so arrogantly crunch... - Luke. |

Greetings, I, myself, am still here and will be for the duration. :) After doing a quick scan of this thread, I see that there are only a handful of users, that have been with SETI longer than I have, reporting in. But, only by a few days to a couple weeks. I was sure that there would be many more from May of 1999. My start with SETI was reading about it in the newspaper one morning at work. The article's title had "Star Trek" in it, which was what caught my eye. When I got home from work, I quickly joined. My first cruncher was a 486DX2-66 with 256MB RAM and an 8GB hard drive. .oO(Or was it a 2GB hard drive?) Hmmmm.... Memory is a bit blurry... Also, if memory serves, I was running with a 4800BD dialup modem. Man! Those were the days! :) Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? I am an Oldtimer too {though others were here before me}. I started crunching with my Pentium 200 w/32 megs of SIMM EDO RAM after hearing about SETI on Art Bell's radio show early one morning. Things have really changed over the past 10 years. |
