Message 954912 - Posted: 15 Dec 2009, 5:29:25 UTC - in response to Message 954906.

Cold and intermittently foggy and rainy.

Hopefully the weather will be nice this weekend as I am driving over near Labbie for a visit.

Coming home, huh? Right now it looks like you should be all clear here (just cold), but there is a lot of distance between there and here. ;)

Supposed to get snow on the 26th tho'.

Hopefully not around Southern California on the 26th, I don't know where You and JM7 are in the world, But We don't need snow yet, light rain to grow ground cover sure, Snow Oh dear GOD, Please not that, Snow equals Mudflows eventually and the recent moderate rains have done that in the mountains near Pasadena CA already.

Snow isn't so bad as long as you don't get a rain storm after it. Otherwise it melts slowly and slow is fine. We all know what the forecast is for me in Pasadena on January 1. Many souls have been sold to the devil over the years for that one.

I'm in New Mexico, John is coming here (well, north of me) from the southeast (Georgia?).

Let Me guess, The High Desert?

Yep.

Almost the same here, It's called the high desert, But It's all in a huge rain shadow around here, except from the south for the most part, So for snow here the conditions have to be just right or no snow or rain.

There's a small ski area about 10 miles (and 3500 feet higher) from my house, so we do get some snow. I'm at 7000 foot elevation.

In 2006 between Christmas and New Year's, I got 3 feet of snow. I-40 was closed for most of three days between Albuquerque and the Texas line, close to 200 miles of highway shut down.

It took me a couple of days to dig out my 50 yard long driveway.

Well the I40 gives each of US a frame of reference, 3', wow, That's good, Better than around here of course, But then If the 15 is stuck heading southbound towards Barstow I can just cut across the valley to Daggett and get on the I40(the scenic route) @ Daggett/Yermo Rd, In Daggett It may only be Daggett Rd though, Go north past the BNSF Tracks and Eventually one will pass the Marine base in Yermo then You'd get to the 15 Freeway.

I think I'll take the snow over the freezing rain Bill. Forecasting 15 cm / 12 hrs over the next day or so around here.

Edit: Ill take the snow and - single digits over Robert's -30s temps to!

Agreed. My snow blower will munch right through 15 cm, but won't do much to ice. Fortunately I have lots of salt and sand in a dry place.

Cold (3-4C) & rainy here. What's new?

We have a watch for snow, but it won't happen.

Ice is likely to be the bigger problem here.

We seem to have a lot of people in this thread that live around the I-40 corridor.

I am at 2800 and work at about 4000.
