Has anyone make the 2nd core of GTX295 dectable by BOINC thru setting PhysX to the 2nd core? It used to work under vista but not on win7. Now I'm using the old method of dummy plugs and extending the monitor. Can't use SLI as it crashes all the time. |

Last I knew, the way to enable Boinc to use both cores of my 295's was to DISABLE SLI in the Nvidia control panel.... Not to USE it. But this is on XP x64, so I am not sure if that's the same on V or 7. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Last I knew, the way to enable Boinc to use both cores of my 295's was to DISABLE SLI in the Nvidia control panel.... Not to USE it. You always could I think, but with SLI enabled, Boinc would only run 1 Cuda task. When loading new drivers, I always had to go into the control panel and disable it before launching Boinc to get it to run 2 Cuda tasks...... I don't think that changed with 190.62, which I am currently running. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

These 295's are a bit tricky to say the least... As of driver set 191.07 on an x64 vista machine I am required to use SLI for both cores of the card to be picked up by boinc, at least on the single PCB version. Also the flag use all gpus needs to be ticked in the cc_config file. But when I read of other users experiences the requirements for a working setup seem to vary a lot.. or mabye there are just several different ways to make it work... /Anton |

These 295's are a bit tricky to say the least... I am sure there are a lot of variables at play here. Both of my 295's are the newer, single board versions. I would not be surprised if they play differently than the older dual board ones. And different combinations of OS and drivers may react in different ways as well. If some of you recall, I had one heck of a time even getting mine to play nice with the KVM I am using, until I added a VGA splitter/amp to each rig to buffer the signal through the KVM and get the drivers to load properly at all. Side Q: Do the Single & Dual board 295's report differently? If not, how is it some machines report an odd number of 295's? [8] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (895MB) driver: 19107 |

Side Q: Do the Single & Dual board 295's report differently? If not, how is it some machines report an odd number of 295's? Not sure if it is related to the version of the 295..... I think there have been some odd results when running more than one Cuda card in a rig. I am only running one card per rig, so I am not sure. This whole Cuda learning curve sure has been a strange experience for me......very twitchy thingys, these Cudas!! The kitties did a lot of tail chasing at first. Then they quit chasing tail and started chasing Cudas....LOL. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Side Q: Do the Single & Dual board 295's report differently? If not, how is it some machines report an odd number of 295's? If it's this 3card machine you're refering to you will see why it reports three cards in it system. setiathome_CUDA: Found 3 CUDA device(s): Device 1 : GeForce GTX 295 totalGlobalMem = 939261952 sharedMemPerBlock = 16384 regsPerBlock = 16384 warpSize = 32 memPitch = 262144 maxThreadsPerBlock = 512 clockRate = 1242000 totalConstMem = 65536 major = 1 minor = 3 textureAlignment = 256 deviceOverlap = 1 multiProcessorCount = 30 Device 2 : GeForce GTX 260 totalGlobalMem = 939196416 sharedMemPerBlock = 16384 regsPerBlock = 16384 warpSize = 32 memPitch = 262144 maxThreadsPerBlock = 512 clockRate = 1350000 totalConstMem = 65536 major = 1 minor = 3 textureAlignment = 256 deviceOverlap = 1 multiProcessorCount = 27 Device 3 : GeForce GTX 295 totalGlobalMem = 939261952 sharedMemPerBlock = 16384 regsPerBlock = 16384 warpSize = 32 memPitch = 262144 maxThreadsPerBlock = 512 clockRate = 1242000 totalConstMem = 65536 major = 1 minor = 3 textureAlignment = 256 deviceOverlap = 1 multiProcessorCount = 30 He has an additional GTX260 also it seems. Those with even numbers are and in multiples of 2 are all gtx 295. with odd numbers are a combination of gtx 295 and other single core cuda card. |

Each of my main rigs shows as having 3 GTX275's in. Infact they each have 1 GTX295 and 1 GTX275. The drivers for Vista cannot enumerate 2 GTX295's in one rig properly. So that I could get the most out of the GPU's I split them between the rig's. This thread http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=101930 has had some input over the months as to what might cure the problem but still no joy. Win XP does not have the problem. Sorry if thgis is a bit off topic. Dave |

Win7 with 2 GTX 295 doesn't work... yet. The last beta version detects 3 CUDA's in non SLI mode, but is VERY unstable. QUAD SLI with GTX 295 is not advised.. slow beyond belief. XP 64 is the right choice for the moment. |

Win7 with 2 GTX 295 doesn't work... yet. I luv my XP.......... Most of my rigs are running on 2000 server. 2 on XP x64, one on straight up XP..... I ran NT until it just would not work with most of the world anymore. Was the most stable ever. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Currently got 2 295's running on XP32 fine after a bit of head bashing. This is on a machine that had 2 GTX260's before and 4 9800GT's before that. Plan is to use W2K3 server x64 as its XP like but was going to try W2K8x64 just for a laugh on another partition to see if it works, but I can't work out if W2K8 is more like Vista or XPx64 in its roots. Anway, got two more GTX295's to go in this rig when I get the rest of the parts. That should be fun :) |

Win 7-64 + 2x GTX295's + driver 195.55 = cuda app producing invalid results:( same thing in Vista. if i disable sli, i only get one gpu in bonic, but it will run. |

Win 7-64bit + 2x GTX295's + driver 195.55 = cuda app producing invalid results:( correction: if i disable SLI, i get two GPU's detected by bonic. only one on each card. none of the old tricks work to force the system to see all gpu's. gpu-z sees four gpu's still with SLI disabled. in C:\Program Files\BOINC folder there is a cudart.dll file which has no revision, could that be the problem. that the developers are using old cuda code!???!??? |
