Message 919716 - Posted: 20 Jul 2009, 15:43:02 UTC

Leaving soon for vacation. Originally was to see my mom for a few days. Now in the span of a few days she has passed away and what should have been a fun time has turned into something else. I will place her to rest beside my father instead.

My mom knew of this project and approved. She believed of life elsewhere in the universe. She was not much of a computer person or she would have participated. She barely knew how to check her email. Anyway........I digress from the purpose of this posting.

I have this morning seen several postings by individuals expressing their reasons for NOT donating financially to Seti. This is sad. They use the system's resources but do not wish to contribute financially even now in these bandwidth troubled times. In fact these individuals are expecting 100% availability of bandwidth to their host computers but still no financing to Seti. I don't get it.

When I return it is my intention to make the best financial donation to Seti that I can raise in the name of my mother Ann. I challenge all of you to make a financial donation to Seti in the hope of possibly solving this lack of bandwidth problem.

I also see that some crunchers are beginning to bail out of the Seti project due to this problem. Don't quit..........donate so that something can be done to solve the bandwidth problem for all of us.

(I went into Seti withdrawl after I shut down my computers so brought 2 of them back on line to run while I am gone. Hope my home doesn't burn down!)

Sorry about your mother. Best wishes to you and your family in the weeks ahead. I will not be able at this time to donate as I am looking for a job at this time. I hope to donate more than my time when I have a new paying job.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. I lost mine ten years ago come November. She is still sorely missed.

All your sorrows are my sorrows. Both my parents have been gone a long time now, (Dad 33yrs, Mum 24yrs - and I'm only 40 myself now) so my condolences are with you at this sad time. My mum was called Anne too.

I hope you can lay her to rest in a manner which will befit her and show your love for her.

I am in danger of losing my job at the moment due to my health, but if I can, I will donate something.

My kind regards, Gizbar.

Dad's been gone for 15 years, and I'd like nothing more than an hour to sit and chat.

Mom is 87, and I make sure we get time together whenever possible.

I would like to add my condolences, my father died 38 years ago last week, he drowned whilst paddling in the sea. I know because I was the last to see him and was there. Mom is 73 and is well after a double heart bypass and a stroke, more hospital appointments coming up.

sorry for you're loss. it's one i will have to face some day and i am dreading it.

i just bought a bunch of seti crunching hardware yesterday before i read this thread against my better judgement and now im too strapped for cash to donate. i know it would have been better to donate that money instead, but the RAC is like crack.

next time i get a paycheck ill throw some money their way, for seti, you're mum and mine.

@ Geek@Play

Sad to hear this about your Mom.

My heartfelt condolences.

Nobody can help you for to reduce your pain.

But we know how you feel.

I lost my brother for some years. He was young, too young for this! And I miss him very much! :-(
My Mom and Dad are fine for their age.

Take care!

My sincerest sympathies to you!!!

It is incredibly admirable of you to post this for a cause that your mother believed in. On my next payday, I will commit what I can to the project.
