Guess you noticed we lost a lot of posts in here didn't you? Must have been something real bad hit Berkeley this time. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

They are obviously aware of the issues and are working on it. If it was going to happen, I'm glad it did *before* the weekend though. Rob

Hope it holds till tomorrow..... Server Status Our BOINC database server crashed yesterday for the second day in a row. It recovered, but prepare for the projects to be up and down until we are all in the lab on Monday and give the database a full checkup. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Yeah I had time to overhaul a part of the swamp cooler, Good thing too as It's 89F outside where I live now. 32°c with the RH less than 50% makes it suitable for human habitation. Much less than that is too cold. Grant Darwin NT |

Oh and the lowest tolerable temp in here was 72F(22C) and then only briefly, But the cooler is a remote controlled type. Tolerable? Below 28°c (82°F) requires jacket & trousers. 22°c (72°F) requires heaters. BTW it's 16:30 & 32°c & 65% RH here at the moment. A bit sticky, but otherwise very nice. Grant Darwin NT |

I've been known to go outside without a jacket in 60°F(10.5°C) or so weather Boy times change. Used to live down south in a town on the edge of snow country. When we left there it was generally -6°c (21°F) overnight & maximum between 8° to 12°c (46° to 54°F). If it wasn't windy during the day i'd just wear shorts & T shirt no problems at all. These days anything below 20°c (68°F) is just painfull. Grant Darwin NT |

When I subscribed to the "Panic Mode On (14) Server problems", I didn't think it would be about the weather! |

Back to the subject: I think the Astropulse WU are "pushed" in front because... they don't care to much about seti original ideea - finding ET, but more about the distribuited computing and finding other usefull (in their wiev) uses for the computer base. Well, I won't do anymore AP WU, I have started to give time to seti for the original ideea and I stick to that. Sorry... |

Back to the subject: I'm not sure I follow (not that your post is the "original" subject, i.e. Panic Mode/Server problems). How is AP not of the original SETI idea? SETI MB searches for narrowband signals and AP searches for broadband signals. AP is a natural progression of the search, and IMO far more likely to find ETI than MB ever would. |
