Message 849324 - Posted: 4 Jan 2009, 17:11:13 UTC - in response to Message 849291.

Good evening everyone. It was a nice sunny day here :), even so I had to work.

I got a ways on my honeydo list.

You have a honeydo list, My own list is not too small either for that matter, But then I have no honey to worry about, Just a kitty, This month I get to buy a money order for some paperwork that needs to be done here in a few days that's related to where I live, At least releveling the floor of the house shouldn't cost Me anything on Monday.

Releveling a mobile home shouldn't be that hard. Seems like a water level, a tape measure, and a couple of wrenches the right size to work the jack screws ought to do the trick. Unfortunately, it probably means crawling around under the trailer...

No It isn't, The guys who installed the place can do the crawling under It on Monday sometime, It amounts to some adjustments to the earthquake resistant foundation system that is down under the place. I'll just watch.

Um. Earthquake resistant foundation. That would make it a little different. As far as I know, there has been one earthquake that could be felt around here in the last 2 decades. Nobody around here worries much about earthquake proofing things.

Maybe not where You live, But the County here insisted and inspected It back in 2006.

A picture of one of the many foundation stands that are either bolted to the concrete or are spiked into the sand here, the Wood there is pressure treated of course.

. . . those are Gratton Bolts eh - like the tire for the good-ol' up & downs - then the sheer - lived through the Northridge as well as Whittier Narrows [real biggies] . . . North Carolina is due - NOT 'IF' but WHEN and it'll be a disaster because nobody knows [note the 'nobody' pun - intended!]

'ello Mike, Andy, Mage / Jeff & Mark [Ceb IF still there ;)] - Hope You're All Well & Accounted for where You sit ;))

l8Tr . . . enjoy yer Sunday [and Your Monday for those that live Down-Under]

The Tires and Axles that're out of view are just stored underneath the house(the Tires don't touch the Steel I beams of the house), Monday the Guys are supposed to be out here to adjust the house and make It level again, For FREE as they were supposed to do this, But It took time for the house to settle.

If you can afford the castle, you can afford to heat it. :-)

Not always. Some of these things are inherited, and the younger generation does not have the wherewithall to do the upkeep.

Looks expensive, Energy or not. I'd hate to see the bill of course.

I know that Scotland used to (and maybe still does) calculated property taxes based on the roof area. This leads people to strip the roofs off of buildings that are not in use.

Yes, it also leads to the rather rapid decay of old buildings.

And that's too bad, as they just don't make buildings like that anymore, sigh.
