I just got back My internet after losing It for about 13 hours, Verizon this last weekend when It rained said My router was bad, Yesterday when It snowed Verizon said Oh Your DSL Modem is bad and does not work, Now I have internet access with a non-working DSL Modem, I called the Cancellation department, I got on the 1st call a New DSL Modem for Free instead of having to buy one like Verizon Tech Support wanted Me to do, Then when My internet came back I called Verizon Cancellation Department again and told them that My DSL service was back and working with a supposedly non-working DSL Modem, So their also sending a Tech out here to look at the lines(about damn time too) and Giving Me two Free Months of DSL Service(Effective this Month) as well as the Free DSL Modem, So what do You think?

I'll post more pics if and when I go out into the Desert Snow. :D

How pretty, snow on the palm trees.

I think someone finally realized they have a problem near your house with moisture (this can be a real problem to track in the desert as you can only find the problem when it is actually raining).

Yep and around here the phone lines are buried in the snow covered ground. Only power is up on poles. And getting Verizon to admit that is nearly impossible, Worse than pulling teeth, Blame customer for all problems must be their policy I'd think.

I have Verizon phone service and I had a shorted line at a phone company junction in my yard that serves my block and when it would rain water would get in the sorted wire causing static, echoes and cross talk and a dead line. This went on for 2 years and finally they sent out a competent technician and he located the shorted wire where the insulation was broken and a bare wire was exposed and now my phone service is good. I had Verizon DSL but the service was so poor that I switched to Net Zero DSL and they rent the line from Verizon.

Let me go into how poor Verizon DSL was. I signed up for the 720/320 but all I got was 400/120 and I changed my phone number so they could combine my DSL with my phone bill. It took them about a week to set up the DSL and when they changed the phone number they cut off the DSL and said I had moved and it would be a month before I would get DSL service. I called they and they made me pay over 100USD in advance and I explained that I did not move but they refused to reconnect at the big box on the street where the service comes to this side of town that’s where they connect and disconnect the line. I talked to supervisors but no good. So I contacted Net Zero and got my service is a few day at 1500/380 and I get faster speeds that that. I canceled the Verizon DSL service and I filed a complaint with the FCC. I had the file 3 FCC complaints in the last 2 years on Verizon.

What piss poor phone company!!!!!!!!

Then a year later I got my 100USD back.

Yeah, If and when I get a newer house elsewhere Verizon the phone company is at I may look into Netzero DSL, Maybe.

nope, not Netzero again, Had them for Dialup, I was always around and they disconnected back then.

I have 4 net choices Verizon, Net Zero, Jet Rocket (cable) and satellite.
I tried Jet Rocket but it was expensive and at 3000/780 and my server did not work good I could not use a net phone and a server at the same time the Jet Rocket would change my IP so my server didn't work.
So I use Net Zero and I am satisfied with its service.

It is their policy we had no problems with C&P who was the phone company before Verizon. Have you seen those Verizon commercials where their employees by the thousands and cranes and helicopters etc are in the background and the other phone company has cut outs standing in for employees well it's the other way around in reality
Screw Verizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, I just checked out NetzeroDSL(they top out at 1.5 down), I like DSL Extreme better as they go up to 7.1/768K at all 4 street addresses that I'm interested in(Adelanto CA), As I'm getting a USDARH 33yr Mortgage from the USDA(It's been determined that I can afford only a $52,000.00 Mortgage) and $24.95 a month for 12 months @ 3.0/768K is better than Verizon DSL at the same speed and Versions price is $31.99 a month.

Hey thanks Joker I just switched to DSL Extreme pro for 27USD and I can run a server with Verizon you can not run a server and with DSL Extreme I can run my mail server they will unblock port 25. Net Zero blocks port 25 and I can not use my mail server service from dynDNS and now with this new DSL Extreme I can run my mail server. Nice work Joker for the recommend. I get a free modem also.

My weather now at 644PM ZIP 24501 is 44 and rain. We get a lot of rain in the fall and winter and spring but dry in the summer. Suppose to be in the 60's tomorrow we can have this type of weather in early January also with 40 or 50 in late Jan to Feb.
