They are basically the same thing with a different skin. The only incompatibilities you are likely to run into are different folder locations causing issues. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

They are basically the same thing with a different skin. The only incompatibilities you are likely to run into are different folder locations causing issues. Humm. BOINC pages show version 6.2.19 is the version to use now. But World Community Grid has version 6.2.28. There is one difference. Does it matter if you are on the gird version of BOINC and crunch SETI in a version that is not on the BOINC website as released yet? |

Does it matter if you are on the gird version of BOINC and crunch SETI in a version that is not on the BOINC website as released yet? No, it doesn't. World Community Grid's Beta BOINC is the same as the Berkeley BOINC versions. The difference between the two versions is that WCG BOINC can be downloaded from the WCG web site, has a WCG installer and splash screen, installs as WCG BOINC in the service install and it may have different directories. Other than that, it is the same program. |
