I just checked the Beta forums and when you first open a thread it looks fine but after everything has loaded it goes to a half page format. Not Good.

I'm getting alternatively half-page-on, half-page-off. I think it will sort itself out. On another forum that I was on, whenever major changes were being made to the format code (BB, vBulletin, whatever) it looked funny like this until the whole thing kicked in. It just means the job of making changes isn't completed yet.

So in my experience, this is just temporary. :]]

Generally I don't like the BOINC forum software. Yes, it's simple, needs very little space on the server but offers no real forum options which e.g. phpbb or SMF software offers. Personally I prefer reading in forums when the background colour is dark, makes reading over longer periods easier for the eyes!
That said I know, because I've been running 2 forums myself now for nearly 7 years, that it is very difficult to please everyone as tastes tend to differ a lot.

(yep, also, when you reply to a message, you see this message above your report post.) But something odd happened when I use reply, looks like report!

Think that's a mistake, though and should be corrected!

And the page layout is somewhat different and the characters look bigger and/or clearer.
I think, it's a improvement, though ;)

The links have a distinctive colour all the time. The underline appears when you move the cursor into the active area. This is becoming standard practice - see for example Wikipedia. It has the following advantages over permanent underlines:

• the text is less cluttered
  
• visual feedback is better when the cursor enters the link area

Oh yeah....nice. Had a few problems getting the settings right, but I can almost see straight now...as long as I have my glasses on.

I thought the new monitor had freaked last night when I got home from work and hit the refresh button and certain headings turned blue.....LOL. I thought OMG, what NOW!!!!!

Glad it was only the devs playing in the coding playground.......

And I think for once, they done good.

I'm now seeing white backgrounds for all the posts and a white background for avatar etc. This I think is now too austere.

I rather like the alternating shades of very light grey in general and I don't think that the white background for the avatars works at all.
