Beeeeeeeeeeeeets, glad to have you back. Hope, you will stay a little bit longer now!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello my Great Friend!!! :]]

Yes, I hope to post more this month. The die is cast and there's nothing else I can do IRL, so it'll be a pleasure to take some time out to spend with you all. :]]

I'm very glad to see that you're surviving this economic turndown. Just to tell you how bad it is here, I had to take a 33% cut on the sale price of my condo..that's how bad the real estate market is here. But if you have money, this is a great time to buy what you've wanted - Cash is King.

I'll bet your son is growing by leaps and bounds: mentally as well as physically.

Zum Freunden!!! :]]

I really don't know how these "boosters" are supposed to do any good. My DL is capped at 9Mb/1.125MB a second. No boost is gonna get me past that. 1500 leeching off 2 seeds just doesn't work too well. :)

Yes, all went fine at the moment. Thanks for asking. But as you can see, my posting traffic here went a little bit down. This is the result of lack of time. My job keeps me very busy.

Beets, I'm of Middle-Eastern heritage. However, many dishes have names that may vary from region to region. Some dishes may be unique to certain areas. Having said that, I am not familiar with the term 'shawarma', could you describe or explain this particular dish? Perhaps I know it by another name.

Sure! :]]

It's a wonderful pita sandwich stuffed with delicious meat (mostly pork and beef that's roasted on a vertical spit that turns next to some heated burner plates that BBQs the meat. The edges are shaved off with a knife and put into the sandwich. It's put into the pita with some vegetables (lettuce, tomato etc) and then covered with tahini sauce and a "hot sauce" of red curry.

It's Yummy!!!

Here's a pic of a typical shawama stand (Richard knows it as "shararma").

There's lots of other food from the region that's delicious too. I'm a big fan of Baklava (filo pastry with pistchio nuts, drenched with honey), for example. Also taboulie, eggplant... Wow! I'm getting hungry just talking about this. :]]

Hi Beets. Yes, I am somewhat familiar with that sandwich, but it is mostly found at places like street vendors or at ethnic festivals. Now...if you ask me about humus, tabouli stuffed grapeleaves, kibbee, or even baklawa(baklava) I can help! Are you partial to Middle-Eastern cuisine?

eh klc - see Previous Threads before this one of beets [we discuss shawarma quite extensively] ;)) < also, see here - Message boards : Cafe SETI : . . . dinner is bein' served>

~Marinated, USDA Choice Steak on the spit [the fat is 'scrumptdelicios'] ~

i have friends in Los Angeles, CA [NOT street vendors - but restaurants that serve Mediterranean / Middle Eastern foods including Shawerma Beef & Chicken] as depicted above . . .

an example of one of the Most Popular in Los Angeles, CA can be found here - where friends make Shawerma & Chicken Dinner / Sandwiches <--- click on link

> most people from the Film 'Industry' have become addicted to this food there

[it's the spices used]

- i only turned maybe 2500 of them on to this friends restaurant over a period of 25 yrs

. . . you haven't tasted chicken until you've had Garlic Chicken made by Zankou - believe me

and the same goes for the Shawerma Beef w/ a side of tahini sauce w/ pickled turnips] ;)

< droolin' eh Beets . . . ;))))

gotta run and make dinner after this Post . . .

Hi Beets,

Yes indeed, mothers make the best. Actually, they make the best everything. My mom was well known in our area for cooking, especially Mid-East. foods. Alas, I lost her many years ago(18). Now I do the cooking for my son and grandchildren. I'm proud to say they love my cooking, but I learned at the apron string of a master, my mom.

Since you and Dr.C.E.T.I. are fond of Arabic cooking, and you know what tabouli is, you have to check out the link below. One of my cousins e-mailed to me. I love it. It's got a good beat and you can dance to it. LOL

@Richard: Yes, I forgot about restaurants.

I can't say I see where a booster helps in the torrent world unless it overclocks your CPU, and we know that overclocking doesn't do your computer much good in the long run.

And your second point is a good one too: 1500 leeching off 2 seeds is a real drag. That's why I love about DDL! You don't have to care about seeds and other leeches. You get yourself a good download manager like IDM and you're downloading at your CPU's top speed constantly: each and every time. Unlike torrents, nobody and no system will ever slow you down, not even by a little bit. :]]

That's why, as big a contribution as torrents have made, it's really getting to be old school quickly. The scene serves the DDL community by downloading to top sites just as faithfully as it does to torrent sites. In fact it downloads to DDL topsites first. (You won't ever see that on html, it's all done by FTP using .rar file chunks for speedy delivery.) So why wait for a "Seed" to become available?

Hiya Gorgeous! :]]

Google goes a bit nuts when you uninstall their tasbar. LOL

Oh! Hey, thanks for that lovely Christmas card you sent me. It arrived several months later (that's Canada Post for you - the snail's snail), but it was a really nice card, and you know what? It was just as much fun to receive as I could ever want...as if it had been a second Christmeas. :]]]

I have it prominently displayed on my livingroom mantlepiece. :]]

Cheers!

Beets

Mine That Bird burst ahead under Calvin Borel, sealing a stunning victory in yesterday's Kentucky Derby. The Roswell, N.M., horse won by nearly 7 lengths at 50-1 odds, yielding the Derby's second-largest payoff ever: $103 on a $2 bet.

So Beets, did you place a bet?

Hey, Hey, Hey! What a day!!!

It just goes to show you the jockey counts, too...big time!

I was on this site of "Big Cappers", they all were so sure of their choices and NOT ONE of them had it right.

Has anybody seen the movie "Let It Ride"? It's a real laugh: all about a day like this! Hahahah

Cheers!

Beets
