Message 752964 - Posted: 14 May 2008, 12:24:06 UTC - in response to Message 752933.

Wonder if some isp's have their routes shutdown to that ISP?

Kind Regards
Vyper

Do I recall from a long time ago...Simon having said something about the site being hacked/attacked and being shut down as a spammer?
Might this have something to do with it?
Might check for it on spamlists.........just a thought.

I called Road Runner here in Green Bay, and they told me to contact Global Crossing, since the problem is off of RR's network. This is the response I got from GC:

Looks like we hand that off to WBS directly off ar3.dca3. (Noting that the IP before the last hop is our router: " te1-1-10g.ar3.DCA3.gblx.net (67.17.108.134)". The next one, while assigned to us at the top level, has been assigned by us to our customer, WBS.) He should contact them, though we can't give out our customer contact info.

Also note that it does work when connecting via Phoenix (which routes through ar1.ATL2 rather than ar3.DCA3).

I asked if this is WBS Connect and the reponse was this:

I asked Security, and this is what they said “possibly. it's going to be whoever their (kwsn.net's) hosting provider is

he should work his way up the chain from there.”

Toby...I had PMed you from Rosetta about this yesterday. Maybe this will help tracking down the offending router that is blocking access. I think I have done all that I can for now...

Heinz...do a tracert from your location, if you haven't, and post the results. Does it fail at the same IP that everyone else that is having problems with?

As I said before, GC is assigned the IP at the top level, from their customer, WBS. See here.

Toby is going to have to take this up with whomever is hosting the site.

So does anybody have some leverage with GC (get their bandwidth from them) that can push the issue?
Or does GC not provide service directly to end users?

It's not a problem with DNS, the IP address is available otherwise traceroutes wouldn't even start. The difficulty is that they've broken the web such that it isn't routing through alternate paths as it should.

Aah I see. And here I thought the web routing bit was 'sposed to adapt in case of breakages like nuclear attack or something ... I guess they forgot to mention that requires people to push the right buttons.

I don't get it, all the weeks, people complain that Lunatics is out 'the air' .
Traced it too, no problems??? (Even now the KPN reprted big problems yesterday and isn't still fixed completely.)

haven't had a single problem from Holland, that is, but since it's even further, kind off weird, logical thinking doesn't help on that one.

Other people from ' the rest off the world, haven't reported problems. I noticed

Puhlees....

Let's call a duck a duck.

1.) Both John and I have worked one on one with a Tier 1 (ATT) and/or a Tier 2 (RR) bandwidth provider. Both of them have said that they have no peering disputes currently on their backbone peering connections. I have no reason to assume they are blowing smoke up my wazoo at this point.

2.) GC has said that they don't have a specific reason why any of their Tier 3 customers should be cut off at the moment for any of their border gateways.

3.) The DNS and RDNS records for the Coop/KWSN are messed up (they don't agree). This alone in this day and age is sufficient reason to cause a connection to get dropped at network borders under certain circumstances depending on the preferred route reported to/by BGP.

4.) Nothing is going to happen to correct the problem until the hostee makes a complaint to their hosting service or bandwidth provider and gets a service ticket going to fix the underlying issue.
