I have established Seti City as a place for all crunchers to get together in a group effort to see how far we can go together.....
I launched it in the Cafe yesterday, but thought I would mention it here as well because some of you do not frequent the Cafe.
We are already up to a population of 58!

Please visit if you would like, and stop by once a day to add to our city.....

Here is the doorway to Seti City...
The gates are open.

Look someone else mentioned this before. I don't get it???

What is it? and how does it work?

I don't see anything happening when i visit the city. Is something suppose to happen? As far as i can make out, every time i visit, there is one new building or something like that. So if i am correct, its really just a type of "Hit Counter" that just counts people visiting the page each day.

Is that what it is? ....It seems a bit lame, or maybe i'm just missing something.

It's just a game to see how many people will work together towards a common goal...not unlike crunching Seti.

Each person can only add one thing to the city per day, so to build up the city, a lot of people have to participate and visit the city each day to keep it growing.

A community project....

And once the population is large enough, different things have to be added and built up to keep things in balance with the population, so it should become a little more of a game at that point.

I see that since this morning, our population has risen to 82, and enough factories have been built to keep everybody employed.

But are you suppose to register or something!

How do i build something?

The map does not do very much. You cannot zoom in or anything like that.

No, you do not have to register. I think the map will get larger as more things are added, in the lower right corner is a control that will allow you to pan around within the map.

To build a factory, you click on the link on the left hand side. Remember, you can only do this once each day.
As the population grows, more of the links will become active.

So Mark i am correct in a way that its an exercise in co-operation between as large a group of people as you can get to hit that website.

Its a poorly animated hit counter that just leaves people like me wondering why i visited the website in the first place.

I will try to hit the website every day if i can!

Agreed, it is nothing fancy..just a game of a cooperative effort, not a website to spend hours on. It will be nice to have you visit.

Cern,
Now i see the difference in the cities, your one is currently smaller!

You should quit that one and join the bigger one.

I did get the idea from a few other posters that had mentioned their cities, but I was not aware of yours at the time.

I just wanted to set one up not as 'my' city, but as a group effort by the Seti community. Our city.

And I visited yours as well.

I don't think the Mysterons would make good Setizens, As they tend to take over the dead or newly dead on TV at any rate. ;)

Try each one....rumor is that you can do each category once per day, but I have not been able to confirm that yet....

Mark - I control a pretty big WAN. Would you like me to put Seti City on it for couple of days? You should get about 1000 hits....
