Set up a Misfit webcam, would the world be prepared for it?

Hehe, Yep when they sneak out for a cup of that capuchino from the other department, come back in and trip over a cable spilling it all into the server closet, they couldn't claim "raid controller malfunction"! hehe.

What a terrible idea.

The guys and gals wouldn't be able to scratch the bits that need scratching, leading to discomfort and loss of concentration. This, in turn, could lead to all sorts of other problems like having to leave the room when the bits "demand" to be scratched now!

This breaking of the chain of thought could lead to programing errors or cabling errors, all sorts of errors.

Don't believe me ?

Then do an experiment with yourself, don't scratch yourself unless you leave the room you are in first and see what happens.

I don't know. But I'll tell you one thing for sure. If they get the money to get a webcam up I'll definitely donate some cash to make sure that Eric Korpola and David Anderson have enough of a wardrobe to wear.

I sure as hell don't want that scary scene on my screen. I don't think it's 'kid friendly'.

Keep in mind that most people resent having cameras pointed at them in the workplace.
Besides, if you want to watch someone punching away at a keyboard or reading reams of printouts for hours on end, it may be time to get a hobby. LOL

Not that I know too much about this stuff, but, my 2c fwiw
It's not so much the cam, as the medium
Bandwidth considerations
cheap to expensive, with pros/cons-

cheap - usb webcam - OK quality-wise, requires PC, maintenance ie: an image encoder would be needed for broadcasting, if it conks out, someone needs to click Start on the encoder(which is heavy on system resources)

moderate price - CCTV, PC req'd still for DVR card, not as heavy on system resources, platform specific? (The one I have will only *do* 2000 and XP win clients)

Pricey, but self contained would be an IP camera (these people know their stuff) Axis
These cams use cat5, plug directly into the router, yadda yadda ...
(the wide-angle wall mount cams would be good in the lab I think ;)
like take off eh! to The Great White North

You'd get more entertainment if I pointed it at my monitor.
