I know someone is going to yell at me for this, but both teams should be disqualified for the remainder of the season...and that one coach permanently banned if the allegations are in fact true. I know the Hockey culture promotes a certain amount of violence it seems where there should be none tolerated...it's a sport and a game, not the prison yard.

I went to see a hockey game and a fight broke out... Then, I went to see a fight and a hockey game broke out... ;)

I don't really think ANYONE truly expects a bench clearing brawl at a AAA 8 years old hockey game, nor a COACH to spit in someones face

IMO both coaches should not be allowed to coach, and both teams should be sanctioned for next season

I don't know all of the facts. However, I would revise your statement slightly. At least one team should be disqualified for the rest of the season. It is entirely possible that one time is largely innocent of wrong doing. It would be hard for one team to see the other clear the benches to beat up your team mates without doing anything.

John, you're right, getting ahead of myself (have to keep reminding myself it's simply my town ... not **MY!!** town lol ;)

a couple hi-lites

- Police said a small fight had broken out between players on the ice and both coaches sent in more players from the bench to join in.

- Both head coaches and their respective staffs were suspended for three games

in addition,
- The two head coaches were also suspended for another game

- Six players, three from each team, were given various suspensions ranging in length from one to four games.

more? possible charges/sanctions are still pending

I had read the article, I still don't know enough to figure out if both teams should be suspended for the season, or just one. The head coach that emptied the bench first should be removed (if it was simultaneous both of them). If it can be determined which team started the fight, then that team should be suspended for the season. If it cannot be determined, then both teams.

I really don't see why there needs to be violence in hockey games. I remember the Soviet team in one winter Olympics that just skated circles around everyone else to win every game. They skated so well that they did not allow the other teams to contact them.

It's unfortunate that the media like to put nastiness in the lime light in stead of the good stuff. This is not nearly as common as people think. I don't think the entire team (8 years olds!) should be held responsible for the actions of a couple of ignorant coaches.

If the allegations hold true then I would hope they are both banned from further youth coaching but the sad truth is that there are many different leagues and no SINGLE/UNIFYING central governing body.

Unfortunately, it only takes one side to start a brawl. I am hoping that one of the two was only reacting to an already bad situation.

for what it's worth, they're playing under OMHA rules (Ontario minor hockey league), but seeing as this was the finals, any sanctions will have to be applied to next season
As you say, it's a matter of time, and waiting for the persnikkety details to emerge, before any *real* reactions can be made

I think it may have something to do with the new buttons., but it may just be a coincidence that the slow loading started happening at the same time that the buttons appeared.
