Oops You missed this You miss what his primary function is... Many here have not asked, but are free to complain. Please take the time to frame a proper question. Then you might get Dr. Anderson's attention. Regards Pappa

Every now and then someone attempts to improve or fix issues... It is easy to beat anyone up! It is more difficult to provide proper issues for what went wrong. Then someone will not answer valid points brought up. That is what should be posted. If it is broken then Post it! From what is posted in BOINC Alpha and BOINC Dev Dr. Anderson is working issues/improvements that may have failed... Go figure and someone wants to beat him up! He just wanted valid answers for fixes that he worked on. Then many wonder why he is not a regular? Thank You, for convincing him (once again) that he should not be a regular! Every now and then someone attempts to improve or fix issues... I prefer to critique rather than beat anyone up. BUT..... I like the (multiple) delete function, & the preview function. But as I look up it's easier to miss an unread PM. Account frozen... |

Hmmm....I just sent a PM reply out to the original sender, my own ID, and two other user ID's for a total of four. When I hit the 'send message' button, I got an error message to the effect that 'you cannot send so many emails in such a short time, please try again a little later' (that may not be the exact wording}. I got the email to myself, but have no idea yet if the 3rd and 4th people on the list got what I sent. Anybody else have this occur? "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I was trying to get people to notice "The Fixer" & his escapades, & that did happen to me also. Perhaps it's a kind of spam mechanism. Account frozen... |

Well, then we should be made aware of a limit on the number of recipients that one can include when sending a PM.. It only says to enter the user ID's or names, separated by a comma, no mention of a limit on how many you can include in one reply. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

It does the same. I had to wait about 15 minutes to get the last couple of people in. Account frozen... |

I think I would prefer a condensed view of all the messages, and then a click on the desired message to read it. I also think that all messages should not be marked as read simply because you have gone into your inbox to take a peek. Having to click on a message to see the full text would indicate that you have actually 'read' it. As of last night, there appears to perhaps be a bug when trying to send a PM to multiple recipients. I tried it, and it only got sent to the 1st and 2nd users entered, and then a message was generated about sending too many emails in too short a time. The 'private messages' heading that appears on the various web pages should turn to another color to indicate that you have unread messages. And I still would like to see a 'sent' or 'outbox' that would record your sent posts without resorting to entering your own user ID to send each one to yourself manually. All constructive criticism, of course. The PM feature in general has been wonderful to have. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And I think that parsing only the summary information about the inbox would keep the load on the servers to a minimum, instead of loading the full message texts into the browser page every time you peek into the inbox......... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I agree with you about the sent or out-box, that would be a very nice feature then you could review what you have discussed with others rather than just seeing one side of the conversation.
