To be, or not to be? Haha, That's great! "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss |

First of all I do not think the community aspect of these forums will ever be taken down regardless of their problems. The current arguements, personality differences or problems in the cafe are nothing in comparison to what has gone on before. What matters is that people are involved and have a chance to speak, be heard and respond and that they can do this amongst people who want to make friends even if just briefly across the wires. Berkeley / SETI gave us the oppourtunity to have a community space. It's up to us to make it special. I never met a community or family without it's wild, strange or difficult members. I don't think I would want it any other way. I won't say the SETI forums are perfect but as long as the "SETI staff" (as you call them) are flexible to the dynamics of 'our' community and the majority of the community remain well meaning I really don't care. I'm not sure though how we can ask a community of people that crunch for SETI (an aspirational science project) not to give their opinions or argue their thoughts - Sounds odd to me :o)~ If you are simply asking for a 'yes' or 'no'... Then 'yes'.. Keep the forums alive. Does anyone remember the WordWeaver experience here on SETI? - Now that was a hard time :o( |

*** Modified *** Having one semester of college psychology under my belt I'll bet a nickel they get angry and frustrated just like we do when reading a poopie post. But they see ALL of them each day, plus PMs, and maybe even emails. Crappy feeling x (var)^2 = > what we feel here ^2: Two sides of each problem + real life situations * Add rules, debates, pecking orders, peer pressure, community backlashes, Ad nauseum. * Day after day, after day, after day. We get to walk away from what they have to stare at and resolve. One shiny nickel in me pocket, me thinks. 'clink' Thanks Chris. You spurred a new train of thought out of me that may help some people understand their situation better. Their silence may indicate their frustrations. Though, I've been known to read more into situations than really exists. No one's perfect. But I bet they try hard until they have snapped. .
