John Barleycorn. :)

Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die

John Barleycorn Must Die

There were three men come from the West
Their fortunes for to try,
And these three made a solemn vow:
"John Barleycorn must die."

They plowed, they sowed, they harrowed him in,
Threw clods upon his head,
'Til these three men were satisfied
John Barleycorn was dead.

They let him lie for a very long time,
'Til the rains from heaven did fall,
When little Sir John raised up his head
And so amazed them all.

They let him stand 'til Mid-Summer's Day
When he looked both pale and wan;
Then little Sir John grew a long, long beard
And so became a man.

They hired men with their scythes so sharp
To cut him off at the knee;
They rolled him and tied him around the waist,
And served him barbarously.

They hired men with their sharp pitchforks
To pierce him to the heart,
But the loader did serve him worse than that,
For he bound him to the cart.

They wheeled him 'round and around the field
'Til they came unto a barn,
And there they took a solemn oath
On poor John Barleycorn.

They hired men with their crab-tree sticks
To split him skin from bone,
But the miller did serve him worse than that,
For he ground him between two stones.

There's little Sir John in the nut-brown bowl,
And there's brandy in the glass,
And little Sir John in the nut-brown bowl
Proved the strongest man at last.

The huntsman cannot hunt the fox
Nor loudly blow his horn
And the tinker cannot mend his pots
Without John Barleycorn.

Actually, Stevie Winwood and Traffic did a "cover" here. It's a very old song, goes back to medieval England. ;)

The original songwriters missed out on the royalties on that one.

Hey John!

Yup BOINC and games don't go together all that well.

Did you suffer a similar fate to Es, then Al?

I don't game, but do use Voice Recognition while running 4 instances of S@H. I tend to use this combination on my most powerful rigs though!

WOW fancy machine there.

Nah i got 1gig of memory and a 2 core AMD with a crap 6600 GT(128RAM),when i run boinc 100% then start a game the PC gets slugish wel that aint the right word it goes comatose and takes ages to exit a game then shut of boinc...graah!damn high end games ;-D

I run both BOINC and World of Warcraft (with the video settings wide open) on my rig(s) and don't have any problems.

I run BOINC and DIABLO II and don't have any problems.

What you do today you will have to live with tonight

Looking in I see a bald eagle asleep on the perch. Quietly I hang a table cloth over his head, to allow him to sleep, and sneak off for a coffee
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

He's been trying to grow back his hair for a long time...but alas...he is still quite bald.

Hair is a lot of fuss and bother. I'm quite happy to be a streamlined cleanhead. :)

And what would the great Bald Eagle be without his bald pate? Just another eagle. So there!

And on that note: bald coffee, unadulterated, strong and black...

The Indian scalp massage sounds interesting. I hope you're talking about East Indians, though.

I shave with a straight razor, have been doing that for years now. I feel sorry for you guys with your 3 and 4 blade Gillette razors. They clog up after 3-4 shaves, don't they? And here in Canada they're about $22 for a pack of eight blades. What a rip-off!

With a straight razor your one blade lasts for years, if you look after it a bit.

<LOL to 'cuthroat'!!!>

Yes, coffeee! Coming up!

I just got back from the City Market, where I picked up some more of that delicious "Bread and Butter" pickles that a local lady cooks up in her farmhouse. My! Is it ever good. Once you taste real homemade pickles you'll never go back to that "Ugh" commercial stuff again. :)
