More flowers, I expect that the camera was fairly close to what is in focus. What is beyond will very quickly fall out of focus. If the camera had been further back more would have been in focus. (But you wouldn't get that close-up detail.) flaming balloons |

ISO 400 version was much clearer That could very well happen! I couldn't see anything in the viewfinder when shooting the stars - it was pot luck guided by the smiling gargoyle in the first photo. Just for you Chris, I'm posting a photo of my pond as I stumbled about in the dark earlier... Time 21:42, Shutter speed 1/60, Aperture 3.5, ISO speed 400, Focal length 18.0 mm flaming balloons |

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't asked!! That focal length setting of 18mm is the wide-angle setting for the lens I have been using tonight (remember you said "but 18mm focal length? thats millions of light years away....."). This wide angel is "the opposite" of "zooming in" and will just about give an all-in-focus photo (including stars millions of light years away). flaming balloons |

I'm beginning to wish I hadn't asked!! 1. Move further away from your subject. 2. Decrease the aperture (iris) size (use a higher F-Stop: EG: instead of f4 use f8 or f16 etc..) 3. Use a different lens if possible depending on subject and your distance from it. 4. Use a flash. If you have an automatic camera and only have the option to change shutter speed then decrease that and the camera will compensate by decreasing the aperture size - hence making more of the photo sharp. It's a complex issue. Sorry :o) I am sure you have already said what your camera is but tell us again. |
