I think that last pic might be stretching the thread? But it's only 738 x 448 pixels, the acceptable maximum being 600 x 800 pixels. Maybe it's time you should treat yourself to a nice 19" TFT screen? ;) You do remember I am a Ph.D. student, right? However, much more money is coming fairly soon.
