I'm not a fan of this avatar, it seems loud and scratchy to me. "Messy Orphan" is what it says to me. What's it supposed to say to me?

You are not supposed to insult your own avatar.

That's for us others to do :o)

I never really understood your avatar.

Is it an image that represents you somehow?

You get the cRowley card treatment toooo :o)

You got the 'Knight of Disks'

Fiery and earthy. Natures growth.

The knight of disks creates mountains, has gravity and makes the earth quake.

(Sorry if I was too naughty.. :o)~)

LOL Not at all, cRunchy. And I'm enjoying your Tarot presentations.

At least I know mine is not 'fantastic', but *is* worthy of me. It is, after all, my picture.

Do you ever use a non-you avatar on other forums?

Have you ever thought about enhancing your avatar by enlarging and composing your image?

I thought about sharing my real-life image but I did not want to scare people :o)

Why not have both 'fantastic' and 'worthy'? Enlarge and centre?

I like symmetry :o)

Madam cRunchy only does tarot card pickings by personal request now. (Avoids upsetting some people.)

You are always so nice but the more interesting question is whether your avatar actually represents something about you?

What is it? Or are you really the sun kissed shampoo woman??

It's the look in her eyes that's similar. Otherwise nothing. :-)

You might want to keep that a secret...

j/k... ;)

Jeffrey the ant?

Ant-ipathy?

Ant-icipation?

Ant-ifungal?

Such a cute half shy half brave ant...

Do you remember Adam Ant? (Or Dirk Wears White Socks?)

Why is your avatar you?

Yes, thank you. :-D

About avatars, I think I get a pretty good impression of people through their postings, so whether they have a child or a grim reaper as avatar (sorry, no puns intended, cRunchy and Knightmare, I'm just using your avatars as an example), I don't really care.

Myself, I use this avatar only here on the Seti board, and I sometimes like to change it to some Foamy avatars, depending of my mood.

I use the avatar that I use because...

Well...I'm not entirely sure why I use this one. I just seem to be drawn to this particular picture. Something in it says something to me. I just wish I culd figure out what it is saying.

I kinda like your avatar, Crunchy.

cRunchy: there's more to Beethoven's avatar than just a pretty face...

I'm not sure what Chip's latest is - ah, having typed that I see it now.

Do you ever use a non-you avatar on other forums?

Yes, at times. Even here, I have used pictures of 'Major Kong' out of the movie 'Dr. Strangelove' as avatars. My two favorites of those are one of Major T. J. "King" Kong (played by Slim Pickins) flying his B-52 bomber, and one of him riding the H-Bomb down. But, I decided to go with a picture of myself several years ago (I think back in '04) for a few reasons. For one, I felt that using those other images might offend some people due to the picture's warlike nature (especially considering Dubya's Great Adventure). Second, I felt that using a comic avatar might undermine my credibility on serious and/or scientific subjects, so I was looking for something more serious and realistic. Since I did not have a digital camera at that time, I decided to use an image that one of the professors in the physics dept. snapped as I was preparing to give a tutorial.

Have you ever thought about enhancing your avatar by enlarging and composing your image?

I might get around to it one of these days.

I thought about sharing my real-life image but I did not want to scare people :o)

Why not have both 'fantastic' and 'worthy'?

Fantastic implies (to me) that a strong element of fantasy (i.e. not real) is incorporated. As I stated above, when I went to my current avatar after ditching the Slim Pickins/Major Kong ones, I was looking for seriousness and realism.

Sorry.. I like symmetry :o)

I should put my own picture, but I still love the "Arroway" character. It's very inspiring for me.

Nice photo site you have. Wonderful work there! Plus, I am surprised to find that I remember enough Spanish to read most of the captions.

cRunchy, somedays I like your avatar and other days it annoys me. Not sure why? I think it's the lips.

As for mine ........ I like spandex.

I met
<- this fellow some 20 years ago on a camping site in Vic Falls, Zimbabwe. As I had to chose a picture for my avatar, I simply went to my picture box, searching for something a bit different (and no pic of me, that's just in my profile). Somehow I stuck with this guy, and now it's my avatar on most fora (at least where I can use my own).

I was given the nickname 'The Simonator' at school so i had a series of avatars based on a Terminator theme, this one was the final version:

My current one arose because someone on another forum said that i would be the next Che Guevara, so i put the two together and voila.

I wonder if avatars are representative of who we really are, or who we wish we were.

I do have admiration for those, like KWSN-MajorKong, who use their own photo as an avatar. I tried it briefly but it made me cringe every time I looked at it.
